It's A Bust

I'm boring myself just a little right now. I suppose that's better than boring you.  But, until I feel like telling stories again, I've decided to share some more of the art created by Fuengirola's sculptor of historical figures.

Some of my favorites:

SHE NEEDS TO PRACTICE THAT MONA LISA SMILE.
GOD OF MUSIC, PROPHECY, AND HEALING. (AND GREAT HAIR.)
IN KEEPING WITH THE ROMAN THEME, THIS REALLY SHOULD BE POSEIDON.

Helen of Troy was the daughter of Zeus (and Leda). Leda's likeness has not been cast in sand, but father and daughter have. See if you can notice the family resemblance.

REVELATION: ZEUS HAD BIGGER BREASTS THAN HIS DAUGHTER.

  3. Our sand sculptor seems to have left the area... we may have to come back to Spain to enjoy such art (?) again.

I think he's returned to Fuengirola to find a good spot for "season."

  4. Looks like Zeus needs some healthy eating tips from San Geraldo, ¿no?

Poor Zeus. That must be one very sturdy mountain/cloud.

  5. Lots of bloggers seem to have hit a spot of boredom this week. I was blaming it on the endless winter here in the States, but it seems to have spread out beyond our frigid borders. Anyway, here we have snow sculptures, but none so classically themed.

We complain about winter here, too. But with little reason.

  6. Perhaps you should have a talk with that sand sculptor, you are absolutely right, the mammary glands are way out of proportion and Mona Lisa is lacking in that department, she was way more voluptuous upstairs!

The sculptor created a "frog princes" last year. Then someone told him to remove the "es." Maybe he needs some help with birds and the bees (and the breasts and other parts).

  7. I am always amazed how Zeus looks just like God the father. Maybe it's the same person.

I'll have to share a photo of some performance. A living sculpture of Moses that looks the same.

  8. Without the sculptures being named few of us would have a clue who they were - or maybe that's just being petty. But they're still fascinating.

He did Little Richard once. And he looked just like Little Richard. Unfortunately, I didn't have my camera.

  9. I guess that's the definitive "sandy" hair.

  10. How long does it take to make one of these? Do you know? They are so much better than anything I've seen at the beach, but the only sandy beaches I'm at are Venice, Florida or Lake Erie beaches

This guy makes a couple of these each day and then nurses them for weeks, replacing some along the way. He had three faces "erased' today. I don't know what's coming. And he was repairing Neptune. One of the other guys can spend three days on one sculpture. And still another, Paul Blaine (a master), will spend weeks on an entire scene and will then add and remove for a month or more to tell different stories. A lot of work and a lot of dedication... and talent.

  11. Little Richard? (above comment) - Good Golly! Hope he managed the colour all right. If it had been Michael Jackson the colour couldn't help but have been spot on - at least for some time in his life!

Yes, I find them entertaining but creepy. I was going to take another photo yesterday, but decided I've tipped the guy enough!
