Marshmallow Hearts and Chocolate Coal

While getting ready to catch the train to the airport, we learned that our flight is leaving an hour and forty minutes later than scheduled, which gives us some time to relax. So, I thought I'd start off my birthday with some sweet pictures. The Goddess Elena, while in the midst of fighting with Vodafone on our behalf last week, bought us some chocolate. Chocolate-covered marshmallow hearts. I allowed San Geraldo to have one. The rest were mine. (I'm only thinking of him.)

GONE... IN A HEARTBEAT.

Two days ago, San Geraldo returned from the supermarket with a stocking full of coal for me. And it's not even Christmas! Actually it was an imitation burlap sack with a drawstring tie and it was filled with "carbón de chocolate con leche" (milk chocolate coal). It was light and airy and melted in my mouth like chocolate mousse. I didn't share. (San Geraldo prefers dark chocolate, anyway.) Besides, there's his diet to consider. I'm only thinking of him.

NOTE TO THE DOWAGER DUCHESS: I DID NOT SAVE THE EMPTY BURLAP BAG.
(I DON'T CARE WHAT PROJECT YOU MIGHT BE ABLE TO USE IT FOR ... SOMEDAY.)

Sunday night, we had dinner at Sandpiper. Jessica brought me a birthday dessert — ice cream, bananas, and caramel... with a cherry on top. I ate the dessert all by myself... along with my complimentary Bailey's Irish Cream... and San Geraldo's complimentary Bailey's Irish Cream.

OH, HOW I SUFFER...

So, we're off. Think of my selflessness as I fly across the ocean with San Geraldo...

This morning, the Dowager Duchess had waiting on the kitchen table a package of Pepperidge Farms double-chocolate Milanos.... just for me. And it's only just the beginning.

I told San Geraldo yesterday that I outranked him because I was a martyr. Chocolate mousse on the plane yesterday. Cafe mocha right now. The suffering continues.

  7. San Geraldo is right about that dark chocolate. The darker the better.

I used to love dark chocolate, too. But, as is my wont, I have sacrificed myself to milk chocolate for San Geraldo's benefit.

The Duchess has gotten a little better (but only a little) over the years. She DID throw out the burlap bag, but only because it had begun to deteriorate.
