  1. Mitchell, I would choose Spanish beach it better and nicer. It's my point of view. But I have never been to US. One day I am going to visit it maybe in the future and my opinion will be different. Who knows? I am very intersted in US because my grandparents were American born. I love M. Sea.!!

    1. Gosia, really!? Your grandparents were American born?! How interesting! My great-grandparents were born in Russian Poland (and I am American born). It has been nice seeing your comments on Mitchell's blog and on Ken and Walt's blogs :)

I had the same reaction to Gosia's comment. My grandparents were Russian, Poland, AND Russian Poland born. And I am American born.

I would choose where I am to New York's Atlantic beaches, too. But the ocean is still beautiful.

  2. Both beautiful, but there is both warmth and you and San Geraldo in Fuengirola, so there's no contest!

Well, you know my preference. But any coastline can be pleasant... for a visit.

  3. Cool comparisons! I especially like the "View East" and "Northeast" comparison - to me, the addition of the mountains makes for a more compelling image. But, I guess you can photoshop some mountains behind the NYC skyline and get the same effect. :)

Oh, and thanks for "Dueling Banjos" - I really like that song. Unfortunately, I went to see the movie it was initially played in...... bad mistake.

Yeah, when you get "Dueling Banjos" in "Deliverance" context, it doesn't seem so quaint and charming.

I like the idea of merging the photos with Photoshop.

  4. I think the duel is a draw. I would love to see both equally. To me all beaches have their merit....I just can't imagine not being near one.
Great post Mitchell! Both your view and your Mom's are wonderful.

I agree with you. I prefer where we are now to where I grew up, but they are both beautiful and inspiring.

  5. Interesting contrasts, Mitchell. The one constant is the beautiful ocean.
Is that the real Abbott and Costello? I didn't know they were musicians. Fun song.
    Be well.

I laughed out loud. No, that's not "the real Abbott and Costello." And it's not the real Laurel and Hardy either! That's a contemporary video. The performers are French. Bob Anthonioz on guitar and Philippe Bourgeois on banjo.

    2. Hahaha, Mitchell. I'm so glad my ignorance gave you a hearty laugh. It often has that effect on people, and when it's people I like, all the better. Thanks for the education. Smiles.

  6. There is a similarity, but I'd stick with your Spanish paradise. Will the DD ever make the trip to Spain to visit you there?

Unfortunately, too exhausting a trip for the Dowager Duchess. Fortunately, she was here as part of a Spanish language and culture course she took more than 15 years ago. She's been to more places in Spain than we have.

  7. Welllll.... as much as I also love your Coney Island Atlantic world, Moose and Dudo come with the view of el mar Mediterráneo, so that one wins :)
(I loved this post, by the way :)

This does suit us much better. But The Dowager Duchess's view is not bad either.

You've (and others) have had a lot of great suggestions. Sometimes I get around to them and sometimes... Well...this was really fun.

  9. I'll take the Mediterranean Sea please.

  10. Yes, the Mediterranean! The palm trees. The schooner sailing out.

      Isn't that 'little' schooner amazing?

But, you know, Coney Island DOES now have one palm tree on the beach. I'll have to see if I can find a picture in my files. It's aluminum and plastic and doubles as a shower for kids to play under.
