The Dowager Duchess and King Ferdinand's Grandson

San Geraldo has arrived in New York and we couldn't be happier. My Mother The Dowager Duchess didn't have a very good end to the week. After two exceptional days when people at the Nursing Home were asking why she was even there, she was not feeling at all well on Thursday.

Finally (thankfully, while I was there), the staff grew concerned and had her taken to the emergency room (I rode with her in the ambulance). We spent a long time in the emergency room — tests followed by the same tests several hours later to compare results. It was determined that she had had a mild heart attack. So, back to a hospital room.

She's now in the Cardiac Unit getting phenomenal care and, after a decidedly dismal night Friday, she continued to improve throughout the day today. We phoned when San Geraldo arrived and she said she had even had physical therapy this afternoon and enjoyed it. So, we're hoping this is an opportunity for her cardiologist to figure out exactly what's going on and get her on the mend and playing the violin (which she didn't play before all this started).

San Geraldo and I will head to the hospital Sunday morning (over the snow and ice). He can't wait to give the Duchess a hug and she can't wait to get one. (Everyone says he gives the best hugs.)

  13. Still rooting for her through the interwebs. I was going to paint my nails tonight anyway (while watching the Dowager COUNTess on Downton Abbey), so I'm going to choose sparkly red for the Dowager DUCHess.
