No Lonely Little Petunias

I wish we could have taken home one of everything from the garden center on Saturday. But space, cyclonic winds, bugs, sea spray, and budget won't allow it. So, here's a sampling of some of the beautiful things we left behind.

Our plants were delivered this afternoon. San Geraldo has his work cut out for him. I'll share pictures of the terrace once he's done.

MEDINILLA MAGNIFICA (PHILIPPINE ORCHID) ABOUT TO BLOOM.
SO LOVED BY KING BOUDEWIJN OF BELGIUM (REIGNED 1951–1993)
THAT IT APPEARED ON THE 10,000 FRANC NOTE.

MOOSE WOULD ENJOY PLUCKING THE FLOWERS.
WE'D LOVE HIM... WE'D LOVE HIM NOT... WE'D LOVE HIM!
SO SUCCULENT.
SURPRISING COLORS.
VIVID...
A PASSION FLOWER — NOT THE CLEMATIS JUDY "WEEDED."

Right now, it's all just sitting where it was delivered. Even so, it looks beautiful.

  2. You left some gorgeous plants behind, but I am sure SG's efforts with what you did take home will be wonderful. Looking forward to the photos. The "we'd love him. we'd love him not. we'd love him." caption is very clever and cute.
That last photo is a passion fruit flower; very similar appearance to clematis but perhaps not as resistant to Judy. They grow wild here. :-)

Thanks for the correction regarding the passion fruit flower. I've fixed the caption!

  3. I am sure as well that you guys will have the balcony in tip-top shade in no time and looking beautiful. Moose and Dudo will be beyond themselves!!

Dudo is really enjoying the bags of dirt and all the other random stuff that was delivered. Fortunately, Moose is not finding anything tasty out there.

  4. The flower in the last photo is unusual. I don't think I have seen petunias with that yellow and dark colouring.

Those petunias were powerful. The last flower, which I incorrectly called clematis is actually a passion flower (thanks to Wilma for helping there).

Alas, poor Moose. All he can do is pluck.

I could spend dayswandering garden centers. Can't wait for San Geraldo to get to work... but he's got a lot of other things going on right now. Maybe this weekend.

  8. Can't wait to see the results! We're going flower shopping this weekend coming; can't wait!
Couldn't watch the video, but I remember the song well... that, and Bill Bailey, were two songs my Dad used to sing to me fairly often, lol.

Can't wait to see what you do. It's probably a good thing we have winds and sea air. Otherwise, we would probably buy everything we see. Sorry about the video!

  9. Beautiful flowers, and colors that make them seem almost edible.

Some of the colors were so vivid, you couldn't really even focus on them with the naked eye. Just amazing.

  10. The passion flower (last one) is growing wildly down our fence row, as it is really invasive. However, it is also subject to one particular butterfly larve that will strip the vine completely. We have to spray at exactly the right time.

Jerry spends so much time dealing with the different bugs that the wind blows in here. Probably good we didn't buy the passion flower. The blue variety grows wild here in Spain.
