Perseverance, Thy Name Is Dudo

A swallow flew through a drain hole on our terrace last week and then flew off. Dudo has been monitoring that drain ever since.

(Click the images, taken over several days, for a closer look.)

A MORE COMFORTABLE SPOT THIS MORNING.
AND THEN I WAS SURPRISED TO FIND HIM UNDER A CHAISE.
AND MUSY, TOO!  BUT HE DIDN'T LAST LONG;
JUST WONDERING WHAT DUDO HAS BEEN STARING AT.

Don't stop believing...

  1. Proving - as thought we didn't already know - that cats have long memories. Hang in there, Dudo!

He gets so focused on that drain, he will even ignore me and remain statue-like. Oops, right now he's attacking Musy (all in fun, but Musy is a whiner).

  2. Patience is a virtue, my grandmother always said. In that case, Dudo is very virtuous!!
    Great stalking series.

Yes, patience is a virtue. Except when I'm the one who has to wait.

  3. The bird made a mighty big impression on Dudo! He certainly has great focus; I'm quite envious. Of the ability to focus, not of the hours spent waiting for a bird to never show up.

I'm envious, too, of the one and not of the other!

  4. You know if he looks away for a thousandth of a second, it will appear again. ;) Murphys law!

And I hope if it DOES reappear, he IS looking away!

  6. Whereas our cats can forget the mouse that just ran across the room fifteen seconds before!

      That would be Moose!

Dudo was back at the drain yesterday and today. A bug once crawled under the stove in the kitchen. Dudo spent the next hour sitting waiting for it to reappear. It did. He caught it and was back the next day and the day after that looking for more. Thankfully, that was all he saw (as far as we know).

  8. oh ho!
"Don't stop believing" is played every hour at work on the overhead radio. I have to slam the door to get away from it.
about the cat - after all it is in their job description.

Sorry about the song. That would drive me nuts, too. Moose must have a different job description. I think he's reads, "Monitor Dudo's activities."

  10. Cats never seem to lose their hunting instincts. Happy Thanksgiving to you and San Geraldo, even though you might not have access to turkey and all the trimmings.

He still hasn't missed a day and, thank the goddess, he still hasn't caught a swallow!
