Drinking Alone

It's Thursday. Liquid diet day.

I tried 'cooking' chicken broth Wednesday. I eventually succeeded.

Ditto nuclear rice.

San Geraldo insisted on helping with the chicken broth today.

I am so looking forward to Jamaican black cake Friday afternoon.

And some wine!

WEDNESDAY: ABREFÁCIL (EASY OPEN) CHICKEN BROTH.
THEY OBVIOUSLY DON'T UNDERSTAND MY PROBLEM.
MAYBE IT WOULD HAVE BEEN EASY-POUR, AND NOT EASY-SPILL,
IF IT HAD BEEN MORE EASILY OPENED.
RICE: ONLY 90 SECONDS IN THE MICROWAVE.
BUT NOT 60 SECONDS... AS I DID.
YES, DUDO, I KNOW I DON'T BELONG IN HERE.
SAN GERALDO TO THE RESCUE THURSDAY AFTERNOON.
APPARENTLY, YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO SNIP ONE END WITH SCISSORS.
DO YOU SEE A PICTURE OF SCISSORS ANYWHERE ON THE BOX?!?

We do, of course, have kitchen scissors (because, of course, Jerry bought them; it never would have crossed my mind). But the makers of that broth didn't draw scissors on the box. What am I, a mind-reader?!?

Going by the broth box, Spanish scissors are invisible. I might have figured it out had there been pictures.

Of course, given the damage i had already done to that broth box, it still poured all over the counter.

Ah, all Dudo cared about were his treats and his (my) lap!

  5. Dudo was rightly concerned for you.

I think he was more concerned for his own safety.

  6. Poor Mitchell, well at least you'll enjoy your chocolate reward in the end.

(Blame it on John Gray's influence.)

I've seen raccoons dismantle a big-top bird feeder. A raccoon would have done a much better job.

  8. Here's to wine and cake on Friday!! (Also to good test results). I'm not ending a special diet on Friday, but I think I'll join in on the wine and cake, anyway. You see, I'm helping. :)

  9. Btw Mitchell, to be serious for a moment: Thank you for discussing a subject far too many find embarassing or 'gross'. Colorectal cancer is a fact of life and the more people who know about it, the fewer people we lose to it.

Thanks for that. It's out of character (or at least it used to be) for me to talk about these things. For me, colonoscopy is a no-brainer. It can actually PREVENT cancer. What an opportunity.

  10. Did they say not to eat/drink anything red? Chicken broth and rice aren't that bad, now are they? When Bill & I have this done we both just drink gatorade the day before... don't seem to have much appetite. Hope it all goes well and you'll be eating cake soon.

Yes, two days before was white chicken, white fish, broth, rice. So, really, that day was not bad at all ... except that I had to "cook." The day before was liquids only, but that still allowed broths.

Our cake is gone, but there are a couple of more loaves that are SUPPOSED to go to friends. Do you think they'll make it?
