No Power In Your Area

It rained overnight and Monday morning. I awoke to thunder. Our friend Heather, who is here in Spain for her annual visit, received a text message informing her of possible power outages in her area.

The moment Heather received the message, there was a huge clap of thunder and the entire city was without power.

Oddly, the message was from Heather's utility company in Kent, England.

Talk about power!

Meanwhile, our apartment is a mess. Santi and Co. finished the terrace and removed all the old door framing inside. Tuesday, new floors will be installed in my office and it will be painted. Tuesday morning, we'll move (with the cats) to a vacation apartment in our building for the next 10 days. Following are images of how we're all coping with the exciting upheaval.

AND MOOSE.
(THIS WAS FRIDAY... TODAY, MOOSE HID UNDER THE BED AND DUDO HID IN THE SHOWER.)

Yes we will! But, so far, the temporary move is the pits. Awful "vacation" apartment. Enough to ruin a vacation. But at least it's convenient.

  2. At least you'll get a little vacation from home. Your furry friends don't look too excited about it.

Dudo and Moose 'refused' to come with us this morning. And they've outgrown the travel cages we brought with us from Sevilla. They can curl up and fit but there was no forcing them inside. So, we've provided them with plenty of hiding places to curl up while were upstairs.

  3. I love the way cats cope... either ignore it or hide from it. My mother used to sit in the stairwell... with us kids around her... and she'd read to us. It wasn't until I was an adult that I realized she was terrified of thunder storms... she always made them into a game. Maybe Dudo and Moose are just pretending that nothing is happening... or maybe they're on the same wavelength of my Mother... even this many years passed.

Great that your mother didn't let on to you that she was terrified. Dudo and Moose were not happy with us this morning when we tried to get them to move upstairs. They won and are staying home.

  4. So... I'm prying a bit, but I'm curious. Aren't you renting there? I don't know why I just assumed that-- people in Paris buy their apartments much of the time. Is it just that the apartment building owners want to re-do the apartment, so they're doing it while you're living there, or are you being allowed to do it for yourselves, or did you buy the apartment?

Smoochies to Dudo and Moose :)

  5. The word diet does not apply to ribs Mitchell. Fingers crossed that all goes well during your 10 day hiatus from home.

Sure it does. It's just a different KIND of diet. The "holiday rental" sucks!

I worried that I had gone too far this time, but he roared when he saw it. What a sport!

  7. And other people cope by using Photoshop! SG looks pretty happy.
Our granite countertops for the bathroom and kitchenette are being installed tomorrow! I share your excitement. And your upheaval.

You're so right. I 'played with San Geraldo's face' to make him more Fred-like. Oh, how we would LOVE to redo our bathrooms, but that would break the bank. We have a beautiful granite countertop in the kitchen. Unfortunately, on the opposite wall, we have a beautiful granite-look formica countertop. And they don't match! I look forward to seeing your pics!

  8. When I lived in Chicago as a self-indulgent treat I would buy a slab of Caron's ribs and make love to it all night long with its sauce and chips. Oh rapture.

Sadly, I've never enjoyed ribs. Way too messy for me.
