A Walk On The Wild Side

Sorry I've been out of touch. Although all is well in Fuengirola (Málaga, Costa del Sol, Spain), my moods have been a little rocky. I've had plenty to share but haven't found myself all that interesting. I took a long solitary walk on the beach last week, mostly west, through the Fuengirola neighborhoods of Los Boliches, Torreblanca, Carvajal, before crossing into Benalmádena.  It helped.

ON THE ROCKS.
I HAD TO VEER RIGHT AND WAS WORRIED HIGH TIDE MIGHT BLOCK MY RETURN.
WONDERING IF THE TIDE WAS COMING IN OR GOING OUT...
... AND, DECIDING I DIDN'T CARE, CONTINUING AROUND THE POINT.
HAVING ALREADY WALKED BACK FOR 15 MINUTES.
MAUVE SEAWEED?
PETRIFIED WOOD?

I FOUND A PATH ABOVE THE BEACH FOR PART OF MY RETURN,
BUT THE TIDE WAS GOING OUT ANYWAY.

Doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo...

  1. And what a beautiful walk you had, Mitchell! What a great shoreline. It does take a few minutes to figure out which way the tide is going.
Your moods probably fit right in with the moody sea.
    Have a wonderful week.

I was pretty sure the tide was going out, but didn't give it much thought.

That song came out when I was 17. I thought it was the coolest and most daring thing I'd ever heard. I probably didn't even "get" half of it.

It's nice to be able to still find these quiet places right nearby.

  4. I love the walks around our place, but you have a much more dramatic and varied place to get your 10,000+ steps!

I wonder how many steps I actually got that day.

  5. Great walk, Mitchell. I am envious that you have such a long stretch along the beach for walking. We have less than a mile between mangrove wetlands to the north and south of us. It gets a little boring if I don't shake it up now and then. I guess I need my own walk on the wild side. Cheers!

Fuengirola itself I think has about 7 kilometres of paseo and beach (paralleling each other). Once you leave town in either direction, as you saw here, you can continue walking for miles (and kilometres, too).
