Geraldo Picasso Blowing In The Wind

The sky was a brilliant blue and the sun was shining this morning. So San Geraldo suggested we drive the 15 minutes up the hill to Mijas Pueblo. Then we headed out for coffee and we were reminded how much our recently glass-curtained terrace protects us from.

The wind was gusting and we were nearly blown off our feet. Still, what's a little breeze when you've  got the Mediterranean sun?

So, San Geraldo and Judy did crossword puzzles, we had coffee, and we were off to Mijas Pueblo. (Click for bigger pics.)

SAN GERALDO'S PUZZLE LOOKS LIKE
OUR KITCHEN AFTER HE COOKS.
I DON'T KNOW WHY. A REPLICA OF BIG BEN IN MIJAS PUEBLO.
NOTICE THE VIVID BLUE SKY — AND THE BLOWING PALMS.
AFTER AN INDOOR LUNCH AT BAR MARTINA,
STILL BLOWING AND THE SKIES ARE NO LONGER BLUE.
PABLO PICASSO ON A CHAIR NEAR THE RESTAURANT BEFORE LUNCH.
SAN GERALDO ON A BENCH NEAR A SHOP AFTER LUNCH.
MUCH COLDER AND THE SKY THREATENS. TIME TO HEAD HOME.
BACK ON OUR TERRACE
HAPPY AMARYLLIS UNAWARE OF THE WIND.

The answer, my friend, is still blowing in the wind...

Ironically, he was the only one prepared for the chill. I had a very lightweight sweatshirt that didn't even protect from the wind. I immediately bought a wool scarf!

  3. How great is having a car now!? Whipping around everywhere....just like that wind.
At first I thought SG sitting on bench was another sculpture! SG looks very COLD! Don't get me started!! lol
The colours, vistas, and the company make it all worth it!!
Oh, a pencil may help with the crossword....just sayin.

I thought Jerry looked like public art, too. It really did feel raw out there. Today was gorgeous!

  4. I've always been a fan of Peter, Paul and Mary. I do like the Picasso figure, even though it isn't much of a likeness.

There's a better Picasso in the museum there. I love these kinds of sculptures and have thought of doing a papier mache "person" for our terrace.

I'm ashamed to tell you it was a frigid 13C... Do you think maybe our blood has thinned a bit after all these years living in Southern California, the desert, and the Mediterranean?

pablo looks a bit stiff in the cold, as does SG. at least SG is still alive.

We've got so much in bloom on the terrace: Amaryllis, hibiscus, crown of thorns. It really helps on the cloudy, rainy days.

  7. Okay, is it bad of me that the first picture, the Pablo on the bench, that I thought it was you.
Maybe I should clean my glasses!

It's good we now have a car and it's so easy to get to. I would love to spend hours wandering around again — in the warmth and sunshine!

  9. Pablo Picasso must have thick skin. He doesn't look cold at all.
Stay warm and don't get blown away - not in a bad way, at least. ;)

That specific Pablo has skin like parchment — I mean, papier mache!
