Black And Tan / Negro Y Caqui

La versión español esta después de la versión inglés.

WHEN MY SISTER-IN-LAW Linda was packing in South Dakota one winter for a 2-month trip to Las Vegas, she noticed she had one boot from each of two different pairs of black boots. One low-heeled and one high-heeled. She quickly corrected her error.

Two days later, Linda unpacked in Vegas to discover she had replaced both boots instead of just one. She had packed the other unmatched pair! I would have bought a third pair of boots. But, Linda had her daughter-in-law Lindy ship her one of the other boots to make a matched pair.

Check out what I did this morning. I noticed before I left the house.

GIVEN WHAT I SAW LAST NIGHT HERE IN FUENGIROLA (THE NEXT PHOTO), I DON'T THINK ANYONE WOULD HAVE CARED.
DADO LO QUE VI ANOCHE EN FUENGIROLA (LA FOTO SIGUIENTE), NO CREO QUE A NADIE LE IMPORTARÍA.

Yes, and same exact style. If I had worn my tan shorts and a black T-shirt, I think I could have pulled off the look.

  2. I work in paint and I have work shoes which look awful and "good shoes". Sometimes I wear work shoes on my day off out of habit.

And I'll bet they look very stylish. Remember around 2001 when the style was for top designers to "artfully" stain a fine cotton dress shirt, add stitches to make it look like it was repaired, and then charge $450 for it?

  3. Haha! Well, at least they would have functioned the same, as opposed to Linda's boots! I have done the same thing (but caught myself before leaving, as well) with two different colors of Converse shoes.

Yeah, Linda said she couldn't possibly have made the boots work. Truth is, I don't think anyone would have thought twice about my sandals.

All I can imagine is the Monty Pythons troop singing "I'm a lumberjack... in clown pants!"

  5. Can't believe that fellow with the dreads didn't iron his shirt!
I once wore my house slippers to work. They didn't match the suit at all. I got out of the car and went straight to the shoe store rather than go back home.

Shocking, isn't it?!? But I think he DID iron it and then it got wrinkled in the wearing. Like you, I would have gone to the shoe store. Any excuse to buy new clothes.

  6. Not too bad Mitchell! Both the same style of sandal. I, like Wilma, have gone out in house slippers. Luckily I was able to come home and change!
Yikes to the man in dreads!
    Have a good weekend.

Jerry and I have both made it to the door in slippers, but realized in time. At least the man in dreds wasn't wearing black socks... at least...

Speaking of "gay style sense," I wonder what Bob Slatten thinks of that look.

As I thought about it, I realized tan shorts and a black shirt would have been perfect with my sandals.

I love that expression. I've also heard, "A blind man on a galloping horse..." and that's what it would have taken to not notice the get-up on the guy with the dreadlocks.

I should have included his father and grandfather in the shot. Identical, right down (up) to the dreadlocks. I swear.

  13. Your title almost raised my hackles !
Then I read your blog and my horror dissipated; I have often deliberately worn odd socks and now I must try doing it with shoes too which will be a bit of a wag eh ?

That was very ignorant of me! Sorry about your hackles. I just changed the title to "Black and Tan" (singular), to make you instead think of a glass of pale ale and stout -- which was what I was thinking of in the first place!

  14. Your sandals were "close enough" - apparently that guy doesn't know what "close enough" means

I hope you're talking about my sandals and not that other guy. The more I look at my sandals photo, the more I like the look. I might actually consider it one day. The only problem now is that the tan sandals are old and the black are new this year, which makes walking in them together a bit odd feeling.

  16. and I enjoy dreads too, but this guy should be ashamed or at least hide away until the Fashion Police gather him up!

That combo was a bit shocking, even for a tourist who may never be seen here again. And he clearly brought that outfit with him.
