Coffee Cure / La Cura Del Café

La version español está después de la versión inglés.

I AM SURPRISED and relieved. The tooth came out quickly and easily yesterday. My appointment was at 10:15 and I was home at 10:45. I was sore and it's still a little swollen but it's getting better as today progresses.

This was very different from my previous tooth extraction experience. When I was 30, an oral surgeon in Washington, D.C, pulled all four of my wisdom teeth. It was a long time ago, but I'm pretty sure the guy's name was Sweeney Todd.

My iced coffee felt great at noon. At 2, San Geraldo went to Meson Salvador and brought home lunch. Ensaladilla Rusa and a Spanish tortilla. They were soft, but still a bit difficult to eat. I finished with ice cream. Strawberries and Cream flavor. That was a huge success. Such a huge success that I decided to have that for dinner, too. Just the ice cream.

I've been taking Paracetamol (Tylenol), which knocks me out. I spent four hours in bed in the late afternoon. That made Dudo very happy.

ESTOY SORPRENDIDO Y aliviado.

He estado tomando Paracetamol (Tylenol), que me golpea. Pasé cuatro horas en la cama ayer. Eso hizo muy feliz a Dudo.

AT LEAST DUDO WAS COMFORTABLE. (I NEED TO GET RID OF THAT SANDALS TAN.)
AL MENOS, DUDO ESTABA CÓMODO. (TENGO QUE DESHACERME DE ESO BRONCEADO DE SANDALIAS.)

  2. I'm so relieved for you! I shuddered when I read that you had to have a tooth extracted. I'm glad it wasn't too bad after all.

Your Dudo is such a beautiful cat! I'll bet he's a great cuddle buddy for naps! :)

Dudo now waits for me in the afternoon. Although I'm not one for a daily siesta, sometimes Dudo can be really insistent.

  3. Ice cream for breakfast, too? Dudo looks very contented, but I can't figure out how you got that shot.

Cottage cheese yesterday. Yogurt today. Ice cream would be so much better. As for the photo: I was on my side and simply lifted the camera in the air, guestimated the position, and snapped. I took 6 photos and managed to get the shot I wanted in every one. Lucky!

Dudo usually eventually moves now. But he then requires a comforter folded up next to my head as a bed. I get that ready in advance.

  5. Dudo says nap time with dad is priceless! Ah, tortilla, one of my favorite Spanish dishes. I need to make one one of these days.

I love Spanish tortillas. Unfortunately, didn't enjoy it so much Friday. So I'll have to have one when my mouth is completely healed. Dudo makes me feel so loved. So does Moose.

  6. I hear the wisdom ones are worse. I only had a regular one, it was painless during the operation. I had a good bit of bleeding at first but I also had generic Vicodin so it wasn't really painful when the lidocaine wore off

And having all four wisdom teeth done at the same time of course multiplies the pain and discomfort. But I also had a really awful oral surgeon. I had to go back for emergency stitches the next day (I won't go into detail but it was horrendous). He stitched using local anesthesia (I was under for the extractions). I understand why my face was completely black and blue from the first round. He was so rough just doing the stitches that it looked like I had been in a prize fight. All I had the first time for all that pain was Ibuprofen. This time the Paracetamol was all it took to make it better.

I ate an actual meal last night and enjoyed it, but I'd be happy right now sticking to ice cream.

  12. Rest and recover, in a few days it will all be fine. Funny, I noticed the tan lines before I read the caption. The lines show that you live very comfortably.

I usually spend more time on the beach with no sandals. This year I've been doing more walking than sitting (almost no sitting). Also, I used to care about those strap lines!

    2. Mitchell, I just saw your sheets (duvet seat, really) in the new IKEA catalog that just came yesterday! Ha! Love them :)

    3. Judy:
Yep, ours is also the duvet set. I just don't put a duvet inside because I'm usually too warm! We've got other sets but I don't like them as much as this, so this gets cycled back on the bed very quickly.
