DUDO AND MOOSE. |
While I enjoyed a cheese-and-crackers snack prepared and served by San Geraldo, he came walking back into the room and asked, "What's that thing you say when you're really embarrassed? You know... 'Your head between your knees'?"
I managed to not spray my crackers all over my keyboard, finished chewing, took a sip of water and said, "You mean 'with your tail between your legs.' "
I explained, "You put your head between your knees when you feel like you're going to throw up ... or when you're feeling really dizzy. Or when the plane's about to crash."
I'm so glad he doesn't have to master English before he learns Spanish.
THE CATS: WITH THEIR HEADS IN ALL DIFFERENT PLACES
That first picture of the cats is priceless.
ReplyDeleteAs are the Jerryisms which sound so much like Carlosisms.
Bob:
DeleteMy years with Jerry prepared me for living among people who speak a different language. I'm sure you can relate.
I just tried to put my "head between my knees". It wasn't easy. I think I have to start stretching more!
ReplyDeletem.
Mark:
DeleteSometimes, I've heard, it's not a matter of flexibility. It's just that the waistline gets in the way.
too funny! uh uh I can't reach either!
DeleteR
Ron:
DeleteI just tried and I can still do it! Start spinning room. I'm ready for you.
uh uh uh...come on I know I can do it!
DeleteYou must never apologize for posting pictures of your beautiful cats--they are so photogenic they beg to be portrayed often!
ReplyDeleteMs. Sparrow:
DeleteI hope you don't live to regret that statement. But they ARE photogenic. Our first cats, Dobie and Maynard were black. In their 12 years together, I never really got one good photo. Dudo and Moose offer too many opportunities.
oh those crazy cats! Just be careful they don't start quoting TS Eliot.
ReplyDeleteUr-spo:
DeleteMaybe that's what's Dudo's been saying all day.
.......or even (to further Dr Spo's thought) take to miaouw-ing Andrew Lloyd Webber.
ReplyDeleteI see that your lovely b/w pussies, like mine, provide non-stop entertainment. Just as well that they earn their keep as I spend half as much again on cat food as I do on food for myself - though, unlike them, I never waste or turn up my nose at anything put in front of me.
Raybeard:
DeleteAnd in our house, it would probably be Andrew Lloyd Weber. Jerry served up a really delicious for lunch the other day. Dudo and Moose were so interested in it, that he put a little on plates for each of them. They raced over. Sniffed. Licked momentarily. And walked away!
Tessellated cats!
ReplyDeleteI've always thought that if I was on a plane about to crash (and it's been close a couple of times) that I would keep my head up and look around - it would be a shame to miss seeing something so spectacular, and it would also probably be my last opportunity! Can you imagine reporting for duty at some (putative) afterlife, being asked what happened and having to say "Dunno - I had my head between my knees at the time ..."?
The Owl Wood:
DeleteThe boys are now in a pose reminiscent of Escher's the-hand-drawing-the-hand-drawing-the-hand... drawing.
I read your comment to San Geraldo while we were out for breakfast this morning. He hooted (well, no he didn't really hoot, but that wasn't a bad choice of word for you). He says he's in complete agreement.
What a great way to start my day today-- with a good giggle and several huge "Awwwwwww" moments :) I love your cats!
ReplyDeleteJudith:
DeleteWe can't believe how lucky we were to find these two cats. It's a love fest around here.
Your cat photos are purrfect. I am trying very hard to learn which is Dudo and which is Moose, I want to be able to tell them apart by their faces. Which means you will have to keep posting more photos. I am a slow learner.
ReplyDeleteElaine:
DeleteIt turns out the boys are actually very easy to tell apart. Dudo's black mask ends in what looks like 'eye-liner' below his eyes, while Moose's mask completely surrounds his eyes. Moose has mostly black hind legs. Dudo's are mostly white. Moose has more black on the back of his head and neck. AND we think Dudo must have been the runt of the litter. He's very slender in comparison to Moose.
But I will keep posting more photos... if only to make you happy.
Poor Jerry! The abuse he suffers! lol
ReplyDeleteNow to those adorable cats!!! I really think they now know how LUCKY they have become to find you two! Great shots Mitchell.
Jim:
DeleteJerry and I agree that these guys do know how lucky we all are. They greet us when we get up, they see us off when we go out, and are waiting to greet us when we come home. They are two very happy cats. And so are we.
Cool cats!
DeleteDid Jerry leave the room with his tail between his legs?
ReplyDeletePeter:
DeleteOh, he just laughs and moves on...
Oh how adorable your cats are even to me who is very much NOT a cat person! I love San Geraldo's language trip ups always a giggle not to be missed.
ReplyDeletethe cuby poet:
DeleteThey ARE pretty adorable. I wasn't a cat person either, but Jerry really wanted cats when we bought our house in San Diego. I said OK and was a convert within the first two days. (Of course, our cats have always been gifted.)
Mitchell, did you get to see Walt's big big BIG news on his blog today!? I'm bursting with joy! It makes me think back on the comment I made when I read back in the archives about your wedding day, and shared my feelings about getting married after being together for many years. Excitement!

Judith:
DeleteThank you so much for giving me the heads up. I hadn't been online all day. I just sent congrats to Walt and Ken. What joyful news. In 3 months, Jerry and I will celebrate our 31st anniversary. Two months later, we'll toast to our 2nd anniversary!
Thanks again for the message. This made my day (and now you will be forever linked to the special moment.)
Oh, that's great, Mitchell! I'm still just bubbling over for them.I hope they don't mind that I posted their photo and the news on FaceBook, too!
DeleteHead between the knees -- during an emergency landing this is known as the "kiss your ass goodbye" position.
ReplyDeleteWill:
DeleteBut, I'm so glad YOU said it. I can just hear the Dowager Duchess now. "Will! Language!"
That exchange was too funny! And your cats are sooooo long!! I love love love the first photo!
ReplyDeleteJenners:
DeleteThese cats our much more petite than our cats of the past, but when they stretch they seem to triple in size.
