Tame Tigers and Flying Foxes

Truly Great Nephew Jack and his parents are on their way home to England. We can't wait for their next visit. In their brilliant company, I got to visit the castle, ride on the river, and explore the city. Jack loved the zoo (well, he loved everything he did except getting sand between his toes). He didn't seem to have a favorite animal. We assumed it would be the crocodiles. And it was... until he saw the tigers. Then he saw the fish, which had him mesmerized. And the chimps were in the middle of a major squabble, which he found very entertaining. We spent 3-1/2 hours at the zoo and then another hour walking, playing in a park, and having a meal. Jack was happy and exceptional company the entire time. He had his first face-painting, too. (Sara was tempted to have her eyes done and I considered getting a temporary tattoo... building up to getting a real one... before my 90th birthday).

"JACK, WHAT DOES A TIGER SAY?"
IN ENGLISH, CROCODILES.  IN SPANISH, COCODRILOS.  IN "JACK," COCODOS.
FRUIT BATS OR FLYING FOXES.
WE WERE INSIDE THE AVIARY WITH THEM, WHICH I FOUND REALLY CREEPY.

GREETING OUR ARRIVAL.

FLAMINGO PEDAL BOAT ON THE FUENGIROLA RIVER

JACK'S FAVORITE DRAGON BOAT WAS ALREADY TAKEN,
BUT THAT MEANT WE HAD A BETTER VIEW OF THE DRAGON.

  1. It's hard to tell who had more fun, the Truly Great Nephew or the Truly Great Uncle.

They are a joy! (I want to have my face painted, too. But then I'd wash it off before being see in public. Somehow, I don't think you'd do the same!)

Truth is, they showed ME a good time. So gracious. And very independent.

  6. What a fun day you had with Jack and Company. I bet your place will seem quiet when they're gone. Take care and have a great weekend.

Three different days pictured and all fun. They had their own apartment for the week, but we sure do miss them.

Great fun, but the fruit bats were not my favorites (not even in the running).

  8. I read "flaming pedal boat." I had to go back, twice.

If San Geraldo had been there and had had to pedal, it WOULD have been a "flaming" pedal boat.
