Maybe you haven't heard about our cats. (OK, not likely!) But I don't think I've mentioned them for two weeks or more. A rarity. Dudo and Moose were well taken care of while we were gone. Our neighbor, Maria Carmen, and her two daughters, Sandra and Maria Carmen, came up at least twice a day to feed the cats, give them treats, play with them, and just hang around on the terrace. The boys love them and, apparently, Dudo and the younger Maria Carmen are now best pals.

JUST HANGIN' OUT WHILE I WRITE. |
Still, the cats are very happy to have us home. They follow us around the house, plant themselves next to us or, in Dudo's case, on our laps every chance they get. (I've been trying to convince Dudo that toilet time is
not lap time. It isn't going well.) When San Geraldo is in bed, Moose is stuck to him like glue. To paraphrase Groucho Marx, "If he were any closer, he'd be in the back of him."

THE MORNING AFTER (WE RETURNED HOME). |
|
DUDO: "ARE YOU AWAKE???" |
|
MOOSE: "YOU'VE GOT A FRIEND." |
I LOVE YOU MOOSE AND DUDO!
ReplyDelete(oops. Did I just yell that?)
Judy:
DeleteYou did and they heard you!
Mitchell, your cats are lovely and so cheerful. Do they like hunting for mice? or they are too lazy.
ReplyDeleteGosia:
DeleteFortunately, we have no mice in the apartment. But they would LOVE to hunt for some.
It's so nice to get a "Welcome Home" greeting from the little ones. And what great neighbors you have to visit them everyday.
ReplyDeleteJo:
DeleteOur neighbors take incredible care of them. We are really grateful.
I heard James Taylor and Carol King sing this song in person when they came to Portland. It was incredible.
ReplyDeleteStephen:
DeleteWow! I would have loved that. I've seen videos of them doing that and other songs. I couldn't find a good version on Youtube to share.
Love the paws in the air.
ReplyDeleteI'm already having guilt pangs over our upcoming trips and leaving my sweet old cat alone. (But with a visiting cat sitter!)
Marty Damon:
DeleteI hope you have a good cat sitter. We had wonderful ones that made it much less painful for us to travel.
I sometimes think these two cats failed to evolve opposable thumbs (alas) but had enough pussy-cat brains to get you to do their typing/blog for them. Clever kitties!
ReplyDeleteSpo:
DeleteThey have us so well trained. I had no idea I could learn what the things I've learned.
So flexible and so relaxed! And so very appealing!
ReplyDeleteKristi:
DeleteAnd they make us so happy.
When we return from a trip our cats are usually so pissed off at us for leaving them--even though their Auntie Barbara takes excellent care--that they will hardly look at us for the first day or so.
ReplyDeleteBob:
DeleteOur old cat Dobie used to give us so much attitude. He would turn his back on us. Eventually we'd manage to pet him, but he'd then turn and look at us and get up and walk away. (He could only hold out about a half day.)
I love your kitties. They always look so relaxed and happy!
ReplyDeleteKnatolee:
DeleteThey were already 10 months old when we get them and quite skittish. So it really warms our hearts to see how they've changed.
