Waterworld Closed On Account Of Water

We've had a few hot humid/muggy days this past week. Still beautiful on the beach — especially in the water — but not as fresh and airy as it's been most of the summer. Sunday morning I thought it might actually rain. But, to my disappointment, it did not. The seas had been relatively calm, but the surf picked up. Yellow flags are still flying today because the seas have been kind of rough and the riptides are unpredictable. And that means the several "Waterworlds" (click here for an introduction) floating offshore are off limits. (Click any image to fill your world with water.)

WAY BACK ON 13 JUNE:
IN CASE YOU DON'T REMEMBER WHAT IT'S SUPPOSED TO LOOK LIKE.

Later Sunday afternoon from my vantage point on the beach...

I have no idea why the day made me think of this song from my childhood (maybe just because I've recently been "dwelling in the past" way too much):*

*I didn't know it at the time but Grace Darling (the subject of the song) was Judyshannonstreetwhat's (click here if you've fallen behind on your reading) grandmother (although the Grace Darling of the song was fictional while the grandmother was not (as far as I know).**
**Oops! It turns out Grace Darling (of song) really did exist (click here if you're interested). But she's not the same Grace Darling as Judyshannonstreetwhat's grandmother.

  1. I always thought Grace Darling was an actual person, a lighthouseman's daughter and hero of the day.
Waterworld looks fun , more so when it's a bit bouncy out there!

Thanks for setting me straight (about Grace Darling, at least). I just read about her and have added the link to the post!

The Limeliters formed I think around 1959. They're a good example of all-American folk singers/minstrels.

So have I. I respect the sea and I listen to the lifeguards.

  5. I too am thinking a lot about the past; I suspect the end of summer does this to a lot of people.
