I washed dishes, cleaned the kitchen, and then went back to cleaning the house.
San Geraldo made another mess in the kitchen. I cleaned some more. I skyped with My-Mother-the-Dowager-Duchess and The Kid Brother. An hour later, I went back into the kitchen to clean up another San Geraldo mess. This time clean-up included washing his leather slipper. (Click any image to sweeten things up.)
Moments later, Tynan, Elena, and the kids arrived and we enjoyed their exceptional company as we all OD'd on two-layer chocolate cake with cream cheese apricot filling, chocolate frosting an inch thick, and all adorned with almonds, chocolate-dipped apricots, and a sort-of chocolate tiara. San Geraldo made it up as he went along. Of course, it was amazing.

You need some chocolate...
That first photo is a photo of my shit filled world
ReplyDeleteJohn: but I'll bet your slippers don't taste ad good.
DeleteLOL to John!
ReplyDeleteNow THAT is a CAKE! Does SG take orders? Not from you, I'm sure, but cake orders?
Lucky birthday boy!
Jim: San Gerald will take orders ftom me once in a while, just to make me believe he's listening.
DeleteLooks delicious but does sound pretty messy to create. No matter when the unpaid help is around.
ReplyDeleteSan Geraldo has been enjoying baking a lot more since we tetired and I took full responsibility for clean up.
DeleteApricots, chocolate and nuts--oh, my!
ReplyDeleteMichelle: my mouth still waters when I look at the picture.
Deleteyum!
ReplyDeleteFrank: In a nutshell!
DeleteNow that cake was too lovely to cut in to.... well, I guess someone had to... wish it had been me ;-)
ReplyDeleteSharon : The chef had to do the cutting. We were all afraid to touch it.
DeleteSan Geraldo, like Carlos, is quite the MasterBaker.
ReplyDeleteBob: They are obviously both keepers.
DeleteI don't think I've ever enjoyed a cake this elaborate. Looks yummy.
ReplyDeleteStephen: He creates some amazing art with his desserts. It's a shame to eat them... but I get over that pretty quick.
DeleteOh my CHOCOLATE makes me melt inside!!
ReplyDeleteRon: Melted CHOCOLATE?????
DeleteWow! What an impressive bit of bakery there, by Mr. Impressive-Geraldo! Gorgeous. And, you, Mitchell... it's so good of you to be Mr. Clean-it-all-up :)
ReplyDeleteJudy: And I've got to say San Geraldo is equally impressive in the mess department. Maybe even MORE creative.
DeleteThat looks worth a bit of cleaning ... and more bits of cleaning ... and more ...
ReplyDeleteDaniel: Given my lack of other kitchen gifts, it's a perfect match
DeleteMitchell, so your friend San Geraldo is a very creative man... I am not as gifted at baking layers... The final product is perfect,... And the song is fantastic.. Marvelous post.
ReplyDeleteGosia: My husband San Geraldo is a man of many talents.
DeleteHave a told you lately that I love you, Mitchell? I'm on my way to help clean-up the next batch of heaven.
ReplyDeleteOh, Robyn: You were on my mind often that day. There was more frosting left over than went on the cook. I ate spoonfuls of it while I washed dishes.

DeleteRobyn... I meant to say "than went on the cake," not the "cook." Especially considering the slipper photo...
DeleteI was going to bitch about your husband being a slob but when I saw those photos? I shut my big mouth very quickly.
ReplyDeleteMaria:
DeleteYou'll never hear me complain... well.... maybe sometimes.
Very impressive cake. I admire people who can bake and do desserts well. It is outside my skill set
ReplyDeleteHK: I am simply impressed that you have a skillset.
DeleteThe first photo could look like someone had a 'little accident' haha! The rest of the photos are mouthwatering though! I am a self confessed chocoholic, I need serious help
ReplyDeleteHayley: Obviously, I could have been a huge help Sunday with your addictoon.
DeleteWe were just discussing whether or not chocolate was the ultimate 'consolation prize' for 'them's who ain't getting any". I argued ramen noodles but the clear winner was chocolate.
ReplyDeleteSounds like our house. Antonio makes messes in the kitchen and I clean them up! The cake looks delicious!
