OUR KEY TO THE PALACE. |
The hotel (Ateneo) is in our old neighbourhood and just opened in December.
The restaurant, La Quinta, is owned and run by our friends Gonzalo, Elena, and Albert and sits around the corner from their other restaurant (now four years old), Catalina Casa de Comidas (click here for an earlier blog post about Catalina).
Catalina was my favourite restaurant when we lived in Sevilla. Now, they're both my favourite. If you're ever in Sevilla, I encourage you to check out La Quinta (and Catalina Casa de Comidas). Beautiful places, comfortable and welcoming, exceptional and unusual food, and surprisingly affordable.

THE 'STOOP' OF THE PALACE. |
HOTEL BRUNCH, WHICH INCLUDED SPANISH SHERRIES, CHAMPAGNE, AND TO-ORDER DISHES. |
THE CENTRAL COURTYARD. (THIS AND THE NEXT PHOTO ARE FROM THE WEB.) |
OUR ROOM. FINALLY, A BED WIDE ENOUGH FOR THE TWO OF US. (THEY'VE ADDED A LOT OF ANCIENT ARTWORK TO THE WALLS.) |
Places (palaces) befitting you both!
ReplyDeleteMichael:
DeleteUnless Ateneo continues to offer incredible deals, we won't be there again. But La Quinta is guaranteed. So glad we were befitted at least once.
Where is the palace I need your key!! Mitchell
ReplyDeleteGosia:
DeleteIt's on the Plaza de San Andres. There's a key waiting for you.
This looks exactly like the type of place I enjoy staying. It's much nicer than the characterless place we stayed the last time we were in Seville.
ReplyDeleteStephen:
DeleteThere was never a feeling that we were in a hotel... except for the fact that we were waited on hand and foot.
Very posh and lovely! Your Prince treats you well. I like how they do brunch!
ReplyDeleteWilma:
DeleteThe hotel was a pleasure. It's not easy living in the reality of our apartment after that. Then again, our apartment has a much better view!
First a Saint.. now a Prince.... WoooHoooo... that guy sure knows how to treat a person! Maybe we'll get back there someday and my prince will show me the royal way....
ReplyDeleteSharon:
DeleteA saint, a prince, and descended from kings and queens. And he eats sweet corn without holders. A man of the people!
Separate beds squished together - I Love Lucy style (but closer)? I like it. Your Prince is treating you right, and he clearly knows your worth.
ReplyDeleteLooks utterly glamorous. I'm happy for you two.
Robyn:
DeleteAnd the beds didn't separate when I rolled into the middle. Usually, I end up on the floor. A great couple of days, but after so being away from home for an exhausting summer, neither of us was much in the mood to stay long. Too bad!
Into the woods remains one of my favorite musicals; I got the title right away.
ReplyDeleteSpo:
DeleteMine too. For me, it's an example of pure genius.
That place looks most excellent! When I saw the title, I just knew what the video would be. :)
ReplyDeleteMichelle:
DeleteI'm just disappointed that when I enter they don't "trumpeted."
A euro or two was spent on renovations, and a fine job it was too.
ReplyDeleteAndrew:
DeleteThe floors were beautiful new marble. The walls were painted to match. You couldn't tell until you got up close. Amazing. I was told they spent 7 years on the renovations.
First things first, gorgeous pictures, and i have always wanted to stay in a place because I deserve it. =)
ReplyDeleteSecondly, as soon as I saw this post title, I began with my singing of 'Into The Wood' and know that I will driving Carlos crazy with it for the rest of the day.
And we have you to thank for that.
I thank you; he does not!
Bob:
DeleteTell Carlos I said, "You're welcome" (even though he hasn't said thanks).
Beautiful - only 6 months until our visit to Spain! Unfortunately we won't have time to stop at Seville though.
ReplyDeleteCheapchick:
DeleteNext time. There are so many incredible places to see.
Nothing but the best for a couple of Princes!
ReplyDeleteJim:
DeleteAt least once in a while! Otherwise we'd be back to being a couple of Paupers.
Wowwwwww!!!
ReplyDeleteJudy:
DeleteI know, but I'm not getting used to it.
