Let's Face It, I'm Tired

The major renovations are done. So master contractor Santi has packed up and moved on to his next project, while we're busy doing laundry, cleaning, vacuuming and wiping up sawdust, rearranging furniture, putting things away... doing laundry, cleaning, vacuuming and wiping up sawdust... oh, and doing laundry, cleaning, and vacuuming and wiping up sawdust.

WITH DALE, 1967.

We went shopping today, hauling home two huge bags of shelving organizers, bed linens, and some other crap. Two new bookcases and my new desk chair will be delivered tomorrow. Every joint in my body aches. My arms and legs are covered with cuts and scratches. I burst a blood vessel in the palm of my hand. I know I've overdone it, but I'm the type who wants to have everything in order immediately. (San Geraldo is not.)

At least I haven't been stabbed by an African Spear — today.

"And then a shower..."

I was still very wholesome in 1967. Two years later? Not so much. But I never had a J&B hangover.

  2. Oh those bar mitzvahs do it every time!!
Yes, THAT was a lot to do and you're not a spring chicken anymore, Mitchell!
Now, if only I practiced what I preached!!
Yes, that photo of you and Dale is just lovely.

I clearly remember posing for that photo. Dale and I could not stop laughing. And we were uncontrollable once we got going.

  3. Oh, my heavens, that is the BEST photo of you and Dale. What a treat:) I've never been to a Bar Mitzvah... I didn't know that sister's would dress like bridesmaids... Is that what the norm is?
I'm excited to see the changes in your digs, and I must say that Madeline Kahn in Blazing Saddles is about the best thing in the world :)

I have no interest in attending a bar mitzvah now, but it was quite the event. Very formal. A band (Walter Leibow and His Orchestra). A cocktail hour before a formal reception. An open bar. Formal attire. The Kid Brother (7 at the time) and I had matching tuxedos! Dale would have died (well...) to hear you say "dress like bridesmaids." She got to pick out her own dress (and shoes) and would tell you Bar Mitzvahs are therefore much better than weddings.

  4. Such a sweet and playful photo, thank you for that glimpse. I'm not going to say you should take it easy on yourself; you will when things are sorted out to your satisfaction... but take care of my friend, okay? Hope Moose and Dudo have settled and that things are sorted quickly.

Oh and I love that video, fave scene in the movie!

Moose and Dudo were fine until the furniture was delivered today. I couldn't believe their language as they ran into opposite bedrooms.

  5. Do you have fainting couch in your newly redecorated abode? It could come in handy. Love Madeline Kahn.

Jerry has always wanted a fainting couch. I call them swooning sofas and wouldn't mind one myself sometimes. But Jerry would make way too much use of it.

  6. I am not sure we have completely recovered from our move to the apartment. It may have been more complicated than your recent adventure, but at least we were spared the threat of plant attacks!
Add me to the list of admirers who love the photo.

And all the memories that come with that picture. I love when I pull out an old photo and can remember the very moment it was taken.

The photo seemed so corny at the time (and still is) but what a sweet and perfect memory.

Slow down? You sound like Jerry. I told him today the mess is making me crazy. He thinks everything is in great order and told me to learn to live amid the mess -- like he does. I'd need a lot of medication!

It's funny the things that strike us. I never really thought about her wonderfully lopsided mouth. Now, I'll always notice it.
