A Breakfast Treat
While walking to Café Manila for my morning coffee, I tucked my hand into the front pocket of my jeans and discovered that Dudo had left me a little gift during the night. He must have slipped it in the pocket while my jeans lay folded (I swear they were folded). I think it was intended as a little snack. I ordered one of Fran's freshly made scones to go along with it. The perfect complement. If only there had been lemon curd and clotted cream.

Used to be very partial to Scones with Butter Strawberry Jam and Whipped Cream
ReplyDeleteTynan:
DeleteI've never had them with whipped cream. I do love them with butter and strawberry jam, but my favorite is lemon curd and clotted cream.
Oh, how thoughtful of Dudo! Bet it went well with the scone. :) Glad it's a dead mouse toy - I used to have a cat that would bring me dead REAL mice. Yuck!
ReplyDeleteJo:
DeleteOh, so grateful Dudo can't get me any of those!
I agree with those who've commented that this is a much better gift than a real dead mouse.
ReplyDeleteStephen:
DeleteSo do I. I wouldn't want to reach into my pocket and feel real mouse parts.
Hummmmm
ReplyDeleteJohn:
DeleteYour animals only bring things into bed!
Oh Dudo! You are so generous with your early Christmas presents!! lol
ReplyDeleteMitch, he just doesn't want you to forget about him when you guys are out!!
Jim:
DeleteAs if that could ever happen!
This mouse stuff with Dudo and Moose is just the best entertainment :)
ReplyDeleteJudy:
DeleteI'm glad you enjoy it. I'll bet not everyone finds it so fascinating.
Please tell me he didn't eat the rest...otherwise you might be finding other interesting things in the litter box :)
ReplyDeleteCheapchick:
DeleteOh, no, there are "parts" all over the house... Fortunately, these cats don't eat things they shouldn't. They play with, tear, hide, and scratch things they shoudn't, but they don't eat them.
what a fine thing to find in one trousers!
ReplyDeleteGlad you found it though, imagine if you hadn't !
Spo:
DeleteWell, I can think of finer things to find in trousers...
Oh ! Scabrous thoughts indeed !
DeleteSpo:
DeleteI always want to follow the word "scabrous" with "Callooh! Callay!" I know, I know, that was "frabjous," but still...
Just imagine if it had been a still-twitching real mouse - or little bird.
ReplyDeleteIt's some years since any of my gang have brought me anything. They must have given up on discovering how unappreciative I'd been - immediately scooping it up and tossing it out the window.
Raybeard:
DeleteOh, those jeans would be in the trash... and I'd be in therapy.
Your post made me smile. No strawberry jam on my scones please - I prefer raspberry jam or marmalade.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, do you pronounce scone to rhyme with stone or to rhyme with upon?
Kirk:
DeleteDoesn't stone rhyme with upon? (Just kidding.) Sadly, I rhyme it with stone. It sounds very American and not nearly as delicious. (I would prefer marmalade over strawberry jam, too.)
The two together make a wonderful still-life too!

DeleteA great photo promoting breakfast at Cafe Manila, don't you think?
