I always loved the idea of a big, bright green pleasure machine. Simon & Garfunkel said they could eliminate my pain. I was a starving student when the song came out and couldn't afford to buy the machine, no matter how "reasonable" the price. Lately, I've tried finding one on eBay. No luck. So, we painted the walls instead. But not bright green. Still, it helps.

OUR NOT SO BIG, BUT BRIGHT AND SUNNY GREEN, PURPLE, AND YELLOW PLEASURE MACHINE. |
I was a bit alert and alarmed at the subject heading. Your place looks a treat, with colour used well.

DeleteThanks. It's difficult to get the full effect in a photo. The outside view the minute you walk in the door really transforms it. One of the years, we'll paint the bedrooms!
You home is beautiful! It has a very warm feeling of gemutlicheit. Well done!
ReplyDeleteKristi:
DeleteThanks... and gesundheit!
Oh Mitchell! My favorite colors! I love the before and after photos... sure shows your beautiful rooms at the best. You did good!
ReplyDeleteSharon:
DeleteThanks. The color is really uplifting.
You have such wonderful things around your home! I admire your use of bold color. Looks realllllly great!
ReplyDeleteJudy:
DeleteHaving gotten rid of most of our "things" before moving to Spain, this is minimalist for us!
What great colors, especially seeing them together like that.
ReplyDeleteMe loves.
Bob:
DeleteI used to like shades of gray. Don't know what happened.
I always think that avocado is a pleasant and restful colour choice.
ReplyDeleteTo go with the title of your post I was hoping to have seen an 'orgasmatron' in the corner. Do you remember them? - those one-person cubicles in Woody Allen's 'Sleeper' that you can have tucked away in the living room for those occasions when you want to experience....well, I don't have to spell it out.
Raybeard:
DeleteThe big bright green pleasure machine covers EVERYthing. No need for any other "equipment." I also love avocado. Our green, however, is something else (but I don't know what).
A little color always helps to make a house a home.
ReplyDeleteStew:
DeleteIt definitely works for me. It personalizes it.
Your home is a well designed and beautifully laid out sanctuary, and I hope both of you are happy there for a long time.
ReplyDeleteStephen:
DeleteThanks so much. It's a pleasant space and is becoming more and more ours. I sure hope we stick around for a long time... for once!
Love it!
ReplyDeleteThe colours make the place look bigger and gives it depth. the white sofa covers are perfect too! Cozy and warmer too! Seeing that you both have been freezing!
Jim:
DeleteNo cyclonic winds for two days... I AM enjoying the new colors.
I remember that song! Wasn't it 'code' for something sinister back in the 70s?
ReplyDeleteSpo:
DeleteIsn't something always code for something else? I personally believe they really were singing about a machine but I'm sure plenty of people would argue otherwise.
I think you/we should create one in 2014.
DeleteVery nice! I really like the purple.
ReplyDeleteWalt the Fourth:
DeleteI especially love the purple. We picked up color chips while in NY and then did the best we could matching them with pre-mixed paints here. The purple came the closets.
I love your home! Love the colors--my living room is a similar shade of purple.
ReplyDeleteMichelle:
DeleteThanks! I love that purple. It's much more butch on our walls, isn't it?
I love how colorful your place is! Beautiful. I hope the two of you and the kitties have a fabulously Merry Christmas!!
ReplyDeleteCheapchick:
DeleteWe're working on it! Wishing you and yours a very happy Christmas as well!
I'm afraid to ask what the machine is and would you really want to buy a used one on ebay?
ReplyDeleteI love your colour scheme, so rich and opulent!
I hope you both have a brilliant Christmas.
Wishing you Joy, Peace and Love :-)

Di:
DeleteYou're probably right about buying one on ebay...
Wishing you all a brilliant Christmas, as well.
Love the colors!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the new colours!! So perfect for where you live. Gorgeous!

DeleteOriginally, I considered picking up colors from the beach (sand, sky, shells, sea). But that's been "done" so many times here... and those colors really aren't us anyway. Way too subtle.
