Kid Flamingo

I'm having a wonderful time in New York with The Dowager Duchess. Had a great day in the city yesterday with dear old friends (my only day to dessert The Dowager Duchess... but just for five hours).  Wednesday morning, The Kid Brother and I headed over to the boardwalk for our Nathan's hot dog fix. Sadly, the one and only skee ball arcade is closed for the winter season. I think it reopens around March. So, after we enjoyed our hot dogs, The Kid Brother had to tolerate my charming company and fascinating conversation as we strolled the boardwalk and saw the local sights. The Kid Brother was neither charmed nor fascinated. I told him if he didn't shape up I was going to share all his crabby faced photos and I was going to call the post "The Crabby Kid Brother." He shaped up.

(Click any image to make the flamingo fabulous ... and The Kid Brother, too.)

THE WONDER WHEEL BEHIND ONE CRABBY KID BROTHER.
THIS IS WHEN I MADE MY THREAT.
HE TRIED NOT TO LAUGH.
THEN I TOLD HIM I WAS GOING TO CALL THE POST:
"CRABBY OR SMILEY KID BROTHER: WHICH ONE DO YOU PREFER?"

"Let's walk that way!" I happily piped.

"What?!? That's the wrong direction!" he snapped.

"Oh, come on!"

"Let's walk onto the beach."

"What are you nuts?!? There's sand?!? Get outa there!" he sniped.

"Look! A flamingo in flight!"

"I'm not falling for that, wise guy!" he snorted.

"No, Chuck, really. Look."

"Cut it out!" he snarled.

"It's a kite! Would you just look in the sky, you big grouch!"

"Whoa. That looks real." And he smiled!

THE GULL WAS REAL... AND VERY CURIOUS.

  1. All it takes is a little coaxing to put a smile on Bro's face. So much better! Am I hearing that someone does not go on the beach because of the sand? Well, that's got to change!

Ha! Sometimes, no amount of coaxing well get through to Old Crabby. But I enjoy trying.

Change? The Kid Brother? If you should have the pleasure to meet him some day, he's all yours!

  3. You're a good brother. I wish my own brother treated me half as well.

Do you suppose he'd be nicer if you were developmentally disabled? Maybe not! But if I were your brother, I'd be grateful and would treat you well all the time.

  7. I don't think I've ever seen a flamingo in flight, always in a zoo and not in the wild. Glad you had some guy time with your bro.

These kite was amazingly realistic. In Southern Spain, we see wild flamingos. It's a brilliant site.

This kite did a great imitation! They're beautiful and seeing them in flight it amazing. They migrate through Southern Spain and there's a huge area near us where they nest.

  9. In a couple of photos the flamingo looks quite realistic and I could have been fooled. I'll go the opposite way to the above and suggest you are lucky to have such a brother, well one you can manipulate a bit.

The kite is brilliantly designed. We've got to get one for ourselves. As for my brother, I AM very lucky to have him (but he's much luckier to have me... just don't tell him that).

Some days, there's no getting through one of his moods or obsessions. I was lucky that day. But, we do have a great time together.

I wish I had gotten pictures of the gang of kids on the beach. Two were flying the kite. Always entertaining when I'm with Chuck (well, I spend most of MY time TRYING to be entertaining).
