Glitter And Be Gay

Thursday evening, San Geraldo, Kristina (click here if you don't know about Kristina), and I checked out Málaga's Christmas decorations. San Geraldo found a restaurant recommendation online. We tried it and have now scratched it from our list. Later in the evening, Kristina sniffed out a tea house/dessert place, and that's now at the top of our list. As for the rest, the company and the decorations glittered. (Click any image for a closer look.)

Calle Larios, a grand, pedestrianized central street of the old city.

AFTER THE SKY COMPLETELY DARKENED.

A STREET PERFORMER.
AT LEAST I THINK HE WAS A STREET PERFORMER.
ONE OF SEVERAL CHRISTMAS TREES,
THIS ONE IN PLAZA DE LA CONSTITUCIÓN.
CHANGING COLORS ON PLAZA DE LA CONSTITUCIÓN.

LOOKING DOWN A SIDE STREET.
WALKING DOWN THAT SIDE STREET.
ANOTHER SIDE STREET.
CATHEDRAL TOWER.
THE CATHEDRAL WITH ITS ORANGE TREES DRAPED IN LIGHTS (AND ORANGES).

All that glitter and this is the song that came to my mind: "Glitter And Be Gay"

I've never seen Madrid at Christmas. So much bigger than Málaga. It must be amazing.

  3. I love the festive sparkle of the decorations. i haven't seen many decorations here in Portland. Maybe I need to hit the streets and look harder.

Even Fuengirola looks charming right now, but the bigger Spanish cities are exceptional.

The shorter days have gotten to me, but we've still got flowers blooming everywhere and that helps, too.

Perfect description. I love that Calle Larios isn't strung but instead constructed with lights. Amazing.

I don't think that street performer could fall even if he wanted to. Too much rebar.

  10. Truly spectacular 'lights'! Must feel like you are in fantasy world, Mitchell. It has all the glitter and a touch of gay.
Great photo of your three....after the dessert place?

The photo of the three of us was BEFORE dessert. We wouldn't all fit in the frame AFTER. The city is magical.

  11. That street "cathedral" is gorgeous, and then you go and throw in some Cheno.
    Loved it!

The lights were magnificent and so unusual. There were trees and other decorations all over town. What more can be said about Kristin Chenoweth!

  12. Elegant lights! The ones around here run to not-so-much that.

Did you scratch the restaurant from your list because it was not good or just because you have now tried it and will continue to try new ones? Oh, to live in a place where so many possible new dining experiences were an option!

Restaurant scratched because, of four dishes ordered, only one was not a disappointment. And, it was billed as being inexpensive, which it was not. But Kristina's instincts were right on when it came to the dessert place! There are so many choices in Málaga. Amazingly there are even too many choices right here in Fuengirola.

  14. Everything in Europe always seems so resplendent, even the lights.
All we got here is cheap christmas trash.

Oh, I'm sure Europe gets its share of cheap Christmas trash, too. I just have not interest in finding it or taking pictures of it if I do.
