When I started to feel a bit "off" later that afternoon, I assumed it was a combination of anxiety and pie. (That's what I get for taking my cue from San Geraldo.)
By the time the evening was over, I knew it was a stomach virus (see yesterday's post).
What a waste of lemon merengue pie.
The Merengue with Celia Cruz — What my stomach did Tuesday night...
As I have said, of different foods and or drinks, though I'll use the pie as an example:
ReplyDelete"Lemon Meringue pie. You can't buy it, you can only rent it."
Bob:
DeleteWell, I usually get to hold onto my lemon meringue pie a bit longer than this!
Your lemon pie makes me miss my dad. Lemon meringue pie was his absolute favorite.
ReplyDeleteStephen:
DeleteJerry's lemon meringue pie (like many things he bakes) is the best I've had, It's also my brother's favourite. When I told him Jerry had baked it, he said, "Rats!"
Holy cow, that is one BEAUTIFUL pie!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry about this nasty stomach virus you've had. And, I hope your hernia surgery will be easy on you, too!
Judy:
DeleteAnd the pie, although delicious, wasn't as pretty as usual. The first time in our crappy little oven; it's a learning curve. I think the hernia surgery will be easier on me than San Geraldo. He's already hovering and lecturing me, "Don't do that!" "Should you be bending like that?" "Mitchell, stop that!"
Now THAT pie looks very edible! I am certain it couldn't have been the pie that caused stomach upset.
ReplyDeleteHope you guys are feeling better.
We tried to learn the Merengue once while in Venezuela....Ron was WAY better at it and the girls, yes girls, were all over him!!
Jim:
DeleteI've never tried to learn the Merengue (which looks like so much fun). I can imagine the girls being all over Ron!
San Geraldo is a great cook. Take care.
ReplyDeleteGosia:
DeleteHe's exceptional. It's a good thing I'm a great dishwasher.
Lemon Pie and Merengue ♪♫•*¨*•.¸¸✰¸¸.•*¨*•♫♪ a fir made in heaven unless of course you tummy is able to handle it!
ReplyDeleteRon:
DeleteHope you've taught Sophie the Merengue!
My favourite pie! Wonder if it would mail well?
ReplyDeleteJacqueline:
DeleteI can at least slip a slice in a bubble envelope. What do you think?
I kinda like the idea that you blame eating the pie on SG.... Lemon merengue is one of the few kind of pie I like, and yours looks delicious!
ReplyDeleteSharon:
DeleteI only blame San Geraldo for the fact that I ate one quarter of the pie. I might have only had an eighth myself.
OMG my favorite pie too - what a waste. You will just have to have him bake another :)
ReplyDeleteCheapchick:
DeleteSomehow the thought of lemon meringue pie doesn't entice me this week. But, he's now onto lemon bread and lemon bars (with shortbread bottoms).
Well things started out well with the lemon meringue pie, but didn't turn out too well...sorry you have had a bug of some sort. Maybe there will be another pie in your future.
ReplyDeleteLinda:
DeleteOh, with San Geraldo, I'm guaranteed lots of pies in my future. I may have to wait a while though until I'm again ready for lemon merengue.
When life gives you lemons make chocolate cake and leave the world wondering how on earth you did it. That's what I say!
ReplyDeleteHayley:
DeleteChocolate cake with lemon filling!
stomach flu/bugs are no fun.
ReplyDeleteI once had such right after having my first cheesecake. I'm conditioned now not to eat cheesecake thanks to the association.
Spo:
DeleteI hate when that happens. Thankfully, I wasn't ill the very moment after I ate the pie. But it still has put me off for at least a little while.
My favourite dessert on the planet and that looks like an especially good one!
