All's well. The hernia has been repaired and I'm doing fine. My experience at Xanit International Hospital in Benalmádena was exceptional. Gorgeous private room. Professional, personable, attentive staff. Wonderful surgeon. If you ever decide to have a hernia, that's the place to go. As I was about to go under the knife Tuesday evening, I mentioned that I hadn't brought my camera. The surgical team laughed, but no one offered to take pictures.
(So, click any image. Don't worry; there's no hernia to enlarge.)

THE VIEW FROM MY ROOM. |
I came home noon Wednesday. I feel much better than I expected so soon after the surgery. The cats, however, are a bit confused. Moose's favourite thing is for us to get down on the floor to cuddle. That's not going to happen. So, during my few forays around the house, he follows me and bellows. Dudo was a bit bent out of shape that I spent a night away from home. So there was some attitude Wednesday afternoon. I sat down at my desk this morning and he immediately jumped up on my lap. He turned so he could stare lovingly into my eyes. I lasted only about 15 minutes. So, he's a bit bent out of shape again. San Geraldo is... well... he's not called SAN Geraldo for nothing. I'm in the best hands.

TUESDAY: PLUGGED IN AND READY TO GO. |

SAN GERALDO'S FAN (A GIFT FROM KRISTINA).

THE MORNING AFTER. |
|
DUDO. NOT HAPPY THAT HE CAN'T BE ON MY LAP MUCH. |

"AW, COME ON. DON'T YOU SEE HOW CUTE I AM?!?" |
Good news is the best kind! So glad you're back at home and doing so well. Just follow the doctors orders and you'll be back dancing again soon ;-)
ReplyDeleteSharon:
DeleteWow. Dancing! I wonder if I'll be able to play the violin, too!
Great to have the surgery over!
ReplyDeleteYou couldn't be in better care than with Saint Gérald and the furry boys :)
Judy:
DeleteMoose is still miffed that I won't crawl around on the floor with him. San Geraldo is SO good to me.
Ha, you are still high on the drugs you were given.
ReplyDeleteAndrew:
DeleteNever did get any good drugs. Just an epidural and now Ibuprofen and Paracetamol. Made recovery quicker I suppose but not as much fun!
LOL Andrew ^^ Whilst you're in the US you can come clean my monitor for that!
ReplyDeleteGlad you're home and recuperating well; the view from your hospital room would definitely be healing. San Geraldo will take great care of you, but you do realise Moose and Dudo are plotting revenge, right???
Loved the flash mob video. =)
Jacqueline:
DeleteI couldn't believe the hospital. More like a hotel. Moose just doesn't get it. Dudo is being a sweetheart again -- although he still doesn't quite get why he can't spend too much time in my lap. As for San Geraldo, there's none better!
All right, indeed! What a lovely way to start my day.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm so glad you are mending so well, in spite of your cat nurses!
Marty:
DeleteDudo is being sweet, but keeps bringing me toys to throw for him. Moose just doesn't get it. Thank god for San Geraldo.
Glad all went well and that you are on the road to recovery. I am sure the cats will survive the unwarranted disruption to their lives.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was with a group of Carmelite students in Spain (Baeza) in 1978, one of our group slipped on a wet bathroom floor and split his chin open. It wasn't horrible, but it did require medical attention. We went to the hospital in the town of Ubeda (my memory may be failing me here) and were amazed at how quickly he was treated, what a fine facility it was and how easy the whole thing had been. It turned what could have been a trip-ruining experience turn into a funny story with a happy ending. I think perhaps health care in many places in the States could learn something ...
Michael:
DeleteWell, I've rarely seen a hospital like this in the States except for exclusive ones that only the rich had access to. (Surprisingly, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, had some very impressive and non-exclusive hospitals.) Given the international population here, there were staff speaking Spanish, English, German, Finnish... you name it.
So good to hear that all went well, Mitchell. The hospital sounds perfect.
ReplyDeleteAren't animals creatures of habit?! They can be very insistent when the routine has changed ever so little.
Rest and listen to San Geraldo.
Jim:
DeleteThe cats are sweethearts and slightly oblivious. San Geraldo is wonderful and I'm trying to listen!
Mitchell, glad you are doing well with the hernia repair and looks like you had a great place to recover. Your kitty kat is so cute.
ReplyDeleteLinda:
DeleteThanks so much. I have another photo of Dudo soon to come. He's being a sweetheart now.
Glad you're on the mend.
ReplyDeleteThe cats will come around; they so love to brood but can't keep it up for to long.
And thanks for sparing us Hernia Pics!
Bob:
DeleteWanna see my staples???
Such an appropriate song for you, Mitch, as well as being so for the time of year. Unlikely choice for a flash-mob, but brilliant. George would have given it the both thumbs-up. And a most unlikely venue too.
ReplyDeletePleased that your op went so well and that you're recuperating rapidly, though it seems that it's D & M who need the reassurance and consoling.
Ray:
DeleteI thought the site of the flash mob was so inspired. I'm sure it perked up a lot of people who needed a lift. Dudo has come around. Moose follows me around but still expects me to get down on the floor with him. I actually did today!
Thanks for letting us know the excellent outcome so soon! Glad the sun - or would that the San (Geraldo) - is shining for you. The boys will soon come around. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteWilma:
DeleteThanks so much! Very grateful for the "San." As for the boys, Moose is clueless... but cute.
Glad you're recovering so quickly. I loved the flash mob video. What a perfect place to make people feel better--an unemployment office.
ReplyDeleteStephen:
DeleteI agree with you about that flash mob. It brought tears to my eyes.
Take care and recover fast
ReplyDeleteGosia:
DeleteThanks, Gosia. Hope you're enjoying your travels!
Yes! Heal soon
ReplyDeleteJohn:
DeleteThanks so much. I'm doing great.
A hospital room with a view! Heal quickly and do what San Geraldo tells you. XXX
ReplyDeleteJudith:
DeleteWe were shocked when we walked into that room Tuesday afternoon. And the furnishings look like a hotel room. What a difference that view made. San Geraldo is a great nurse.
Yay for you and Yay for the team and Yay for San Geraldo and Yay for the kitties and just plain ol' YAY!!
ReplyDeleteHospitals are not my fave anymore. Do you look high on pain drugs? Maybe not but I'm enjoying your smile!
Now let the kittties take good care of you, OK!!!
Cheers!
Ron
Ron:
DeleteDudo's on my lap again... and it doesn't hurt!!! I had an epidural. No pain drugs except Paracetamol and Ibuprofen. Amazing, huh!?! (But hospitals are still not my fave either.)
We are like the cats, glad to see you back.
ReplyDeleteTravel:
DeleteOh, so kind. Thanks.
Happy to hear you are on the mend.
ReplyDeleteLaurent:
DeleteMerci!
Glad you are doing well. My hernia surgery wasn't as much fun as yours. Keep on mending.
ReplyDeleteArchguy:
DeleteWell, Tuesday night was no picnic, but I'm shocked at how well things are going now. Sorry your experience wasn't as easy,
It's great to see your chipper smile and the gorgeous view. You do surgery in style. Glad you're recovering smoothly, Mitchell.
ReplyDeleteRobyn:
DeleteThanks so much. AND I've got lots of chocolate!!!
I'm glad everything went okay!! Hope you are feeling much better very soon. All 15 of my kitties send love and kisses to Spain!
ReplyDeleteKnatolee:
DeleteYour photos always make me feel better!
and of course, I am 'last as always' but just as fervent as if I was first to wish you congrats and heal soon.
ReplyDeleteSpo:
DeleteNo matter when they're received, your good wishes always help!
