Everything's Gonna Be Fine, Fine, Fine

After 9 weeks of being busy and in control (and attempting to be upbeat) every day, I had assumed I would have a major emotional crash once I got home (that would be a good possibility even if I weren't always defending myself from my clinical depression). Happily, I have had no major crash.

(I'm knocking on wood right now and poo-pooing away the evil spirits.)

Friday will be two weeks since my return home. I still feel somewhat disconnected and under-motivated. But that's nothing compared to what I had expected to feel.

The photos today are, like me, scattered. (Click any image to enlarge.)

NORTHWEST OF MÁLAGA JUST BEFORE LANDING.
THE ALWAYS SERENE OLIVIA WELCOMED ME HOME.
A WEDDING IN OUR NEIGHBOURHOOD LAST WEEKEND.
(THIS IS DEFINITELY NOT BROOKLYN.)
COFFEE AT MESON SALVADOR. THE WAITER ANTONIO
GAVE SAN GERALDO THREE MINI-MUFFINS (WITH HIS SACCHARIN)!
ANTONIO DIDN'T GIVE ME ANY!
BUT SOMEONE IN THE KITCHEN HEARD ME WHINING.

So I've got one hand in my pocket and the other is
Holding FIVE chocolate chip mini-muffins!

  1. Life is full of surprises, eh? Embrace it all.....it is all quite incredible when we stop and think about it, Mitchell.
Happy you are transitioning back into your routine relatively unscathed.
    That aerial shot is wonderful!
Wonder why restaurants here don't give freebies to us when we start to whine?

I don't think I'd get anything if I whined all the time. Anyway, it was probably more a comical and emotive protest than a whine. But I don't think I'll try it again (besides, I probably won't have to).

  2. Five mini-muffins!? I think you must have really been a whiner. Glad you are feeling well.

I'm simply very dramatic (and I have a friend in the kitchen)!

  3. Good to hear that life is good.... I think you have some good friends around who are a big help. I love that aerial shot.... it looks like something from a sci-fi or fantasy film. Lovely wedding scene, too!

Still trying to feel more grounded, but the friends and neighbours make it so much easier.

  4. I just picked up some mini-cupcakes for Tom for his birthday. They did not have the ones he really likes, but I am counting on him not remembering that ...

So what kind is Tom's favourite and what kind did you get? I hope he still REMEMBERS that, but is grateful and happy anyway!

  5. It always takes me a few weeks to get used to being home after an extended trip. Glad you didn't suffer any depression on your return.

That was the longest I've ever been away. Hell, I've LIVED places for less time than that!

  6. You have every right to feel scattered, what a very upsetting summer. You were strong when needed, maybe now you can just relax...and eat your minimuffins.

I really need to STOP eating mini-muffins and get back into a regular workout routine. But thanks!

And such a normal thing to see around here. Some women wore traditional dresses, too. Sorry I didn't snap any pictures of those.

  8. Just looking at Olivia would calm me right down; she is beautifully serene.

I told the story of "Olivia" before we connected. Check out the history here (http://mitchellismoving.blogspot.com.es/2011/05/globetrotting-with-olivia-de-lopez.html). We love her!

  9. You didn't go away on vacation, you had a lot to deal with and so, yeah, scattered is how you should be feeling.

We just spent two days in Raleigh and i'm feeling witless .... which is apparently not a new thing????

Witless is a good description. Then again, not a new thing for me either. Maybe it's just the number of hours per day that I'm witless right now.

  10. The first photo is spectacular. It looks so rugged and the colours intense.

You very quickly get into spectacular, rugged terrain as you head out of Málaga. The light was perfect when we flew over, but shooting through a smokey plastic window was a challenge. I fixed shake, contrast, and vibrance in Photoshop to make up for it.

  11. The shot out the airplane window is gawgeous! Mini muffins have mini calories, right?

I was really happy with the photo. I haven't taken the time to figure out Lightroom yet, so used Photoshop to clean up the photo. Just shake, contrast, and vibrance and... voila! (Photoshop has improved my fluenticitude in French, too.)

  12. Regarding above comment, does fluenticitude mean you murdered the language, or that you speak it with attitude? (Love your word-inventering skills btw..)

Love this song, one of my favourites by Alanis, and am getting back to the Fine, Fine, Fine. So glad you're there, and that the concrete cloud has stayed the heck away!

I did a post recently with the word "fluenticity" in the title (thanks to San Geraldo). Walt [the Fourth] commented that it would be "fluenticitude" in French. (Of course, that would be the word in French if one were San Geraldo.) http://mitchellismoving.blogspot.com.es/2015/09/fluent-fluency-affluent-influenza.html

So glad you're feeling well enough to be back here. I'm realising I'm walking around with a plaster-of-Paris cloud. Not so bad. And getting better every day (except for when it's not).

  13. Emotional drains can be quite hard on you physically and I am not depressed but understand somewhat about the need for recouping. Hey, maybe I'm depressed and don't even know it. Must think about this for awhile. Now I think I need a coffee and some sweets to brighten up the day. Hold it, Sophie is doing that for me right now.

    Cheers!

Things are going OK, but I feel like I need to light a fire under my butt. As the old joke goes, "My get-up-and-go got up and went." Nothing beats a cuddle with a loving dog... well, except for a cuddle with Sophie.
