Sweater Weather

The other day, as I walked on the Paseo in the hot summer sun, a woman and a little boy (maybe 2 years old) crossed to my side of the street as they headed for the beach. In Spanish, the mother said to the little boy, "Look. There's Grandpa!" The little boy beamed and ran toward a shirtless man who was just about to step onto the sand. The boy stopped abruptly.

"Mamá," he shrieked. "Grandpa has a sweater!"

The mother and grandfather got a kick out of the kid's comment, too.

I figure, if he doesn't mind, then it's none of my business. But I wonder what his tan line would look like if he removed the hair now.

Well, if he doesn't care, then who am I to say? I'm just impressed the hair is so black. I can't imagine he's dying it.

  4. Well they do say that what keeps you warm also keeps you cool
(that is cool as in temp!)

I wonder. I would imagine it keeps the sweat from evaporating quickly, which could be cooling.

I wonder if it doesn't keep him cooler in summer, but I myself will never know.

  10. That sweater is good for winter, not so much for summer!

I do, of course, have a theory about that. The "eh-sweater" keeps the eh-sweat from quickly evaporating, which keeps him cooler in summer. What do you think?

  11. I used to have a boyfriend who had very hairy shoulders and back more like a fur coat than a sweater.

I worked at a summer camp in the '70s with another counselor who was so covered with hair on his back and front that he had no visible skin. It was very strange and swirly when we were in the pool with the kids.

I wouldn't mind seeing more. The waxed, buffed, and polished DOES get boring.
