ONE OF THE first people we fell in love with when we moved to Los Boliches in the city of Fuengirola nearly 6 years ago was Ana Crespillo. She owns one of the local fruit markets (the best local fruit market), housed in the Los Boliches public marketplace. Ana brings sunshine and color to even the dreariest day. Even if she does prefer San Geraldo's bear hugs to my hugs, which she says feel like she's hugging a block of wood. I suppose, in one sense, I should be proud of my rock-hard physique — which I'm sure is what she means. Besides, San Geraldo does give the best hugs. (So does Ana.)
By the way, I paid 50 euros today to send our ballots via DHL to California. Orange County (The OC) had better count them! Especially after not confirming our registration, not responding to my emails, and emailing our official ballots at the last minute after I wrote and complained to the Federal Voting Assistance Program. It turns out that, if I had better understood how it all worked, I wouldn't have needed to wait anyway. May all our votes bear fruit!
"MY LITTLE BEAR" AND BONES (AS ANA CALLS US). "MI OSITO" Y HUESOS (COMO NOS LLAMA ANA). |
¡Orange County ( The OC) debería contarlos!

ANA, AT WORK. ANA, EN EL TRABAJO. |
good, you took my advice. "rock hard" - hee hee hee!
ReplyDeleteAnne Marie,
DeleteAlways!
All of those years of dedication at the gym have kept you from getting soft - or maybe it is just genetics. Off to vote on my way to the office.
ReplyDeleteTravel,
DeleteOr she just finds me too bony!
I could stay in the fruit and veggie stand all day!
ReplyDeleteBob,
DeleteMe too and Ana would love it. And she’d feed you!
Off to vote now!
ReplyDeleteJennifer,
DeleteI’ve seen the results. Hope it makes a difference. Drumpf has created a terrible environment.
That is a beautiful produce stand - wish we had something that nice around here. Now - to see how the day unfolds . . . .
ReplyDeleteWilma,
DeleteIt really is. And Ana makes I even more beautiful.
Makes me nostalgic to see such photos of fruit market as we had in Rome. Beats any supermarket any days. Just lovely!
ReplyDeleteLaurent
Laurent,
DeleteI know what you mean. Our public market itself lacks charm, but Ana’s corner carries it all.
¡Hola, Ana!
ReplyDeleteGee, I'm so glad you two got to vote! Yes, indeed, they had better count them!
Judy,
DeleteAna really is a joy. She made this feel like home. And I am especially glad this is where home is lately!
You must still have an address in Orange County. I'm never sure how the expatriate voting thing works, but I do hope your ballot gets through.
ReplyDeleteKirk,
DeleteEach state has different rules, of course. California allows us to use our previous address. Otherwise we’d only be allowed to vote in federal elections.
Son lives in Japan and he received his ballot early. He helped me with all the props that are so confusing to me. I voted last week by mail.
ReplyDeleteHappy you were able to send your ballot in it should get there in time.
cheers, parsnip and badger
Parsnip,
DeleteNext time, we’ll be sure to be plenty early. Oh, those ballot propositions!
Yin and Yang all the way! Works for us.
ReplyDeleteJim,
DeleteAnd if it works for you guys...
That's some good looking produce
ReplyDeleteAdam,
DeleteThere’s nothing like it. And her little stand has a huge variety.
There is nothing quite so attractive than the fresh fruit and veg displayed on a market stall ! I trust that your votes will bring about change.
ReplyDeleteHeron,
DeleteI agree about the market stalls. The color and fragrance and variety. Feeling a bit hopeless despite the ok election outcome. Wish you could work some magic!
