Ah-EH-row Eh-SHMEET

I love mispronunciations!

Remember Rode Eh-STEE-gwar (click here if you don't know the story from back in May 2012).

I'm not passing any judgments and never would. After all, my father used to smoke GAR-shuh VAY-guz. (That would be Garcia y Vega to a Spaniard.)

Our Spanish friend Tere once told me that one of her favorite British actresses is EhLAYna Bone-HAHN Carr-TEHRRR.

As you know, San Geraldo provides me with constant entertainment in his multiple languages (well, his attempts at multiple languages).

But this, for a change, is not about San Geraldo. This is about another Spanish friend who was recently telling me about the American rock groups he loves. His favorite?

No, it's not Metallica. (Dream on!)

His favorite American rock group is Ah-EH-row Eh-SHMEET!

Dream until your dreams come true!

  1. And native speakers of Spanish, or French, wonder why we mispronounce words.

I think native speakers of any language wonder why non-native speakers mispronounce the simplest (to them) of sounds. But it's so easy!

So glad to help out. You do the same for me. And we all need as many of those as we can get.

  5. Thinking about Aerosmith and San Geraldo at the same time has me picturing Steven Tyler with his scarves draped over his head instead of tied to his microphone stand. :)

  7. I have Puerto Rican friend who wanted to know where to buy a "shit cake" large enough for a big party and, at a totally different time, told me her very smart friend was going to Jail to get a degree in biology.

I love Michelle's image of SG draped in Steven Tyler's scarves.

I LOVE these. I also love Michelle's image. My friend's sister (both from Sicily) could never get kitchen and chicken straight. She regularly went into the chicken to cook the kitchen.

  8. Having just attended our weekly Spanish lesson, I'm definitely NOT one to cast judgement on anyone's pronunciation of either Spanish or English! Sale?

My pronunciation is usually pretty good, but I make up words all the time!

  9. Someone we know here in France once told us that one of her favorite actors is Pierce Bruhz-MAHN. So that's what we call him now. When we call him.

Well, Rode Esteegwar will forever be his name here. I'll have to ask someone to say Pierce "Bruhz-MAHN" and see what they come up with.

  10. After having been with Carlos for these last sixteen years, as soon as I saw the post title, and said it aloud, I knew it was about Aerosmith!
