First thing this morning, I checked the US election coverage. Devastated by what I read, I told our mixed-parentage, Spanish-born cats what a shamefully large number of American people had done.
I greet you in sorrow, Mitch. May D & M provide you with some comfort and consolation after this utterly dire event. Can only hope that the next few years won't be quite as dreadful as some have suggested, even though that's not saying much. :-(
Raybeard: May the Republican Congress suffer for what they've done. May his American supporters feel the pain of their own hatred and ignorance. May the rest of the world survive this terrible mistake and embarrassment... And may there be a major liberal and enlightened backlash that overcomes this!
So glad you glassed in the terrace--can't wait to move in to my new room! I kid, but I'm truly fantasizing about escape right now. How far away is that Planet Nine, again? Meanwhile, "I'm with Moose" is my new slogan.
Michelle: I think we'll soon run out of sleeping space on our terrace! Earth is 93 million miles from the sun; Planet Nine is in theory only about 400 to 1,500 times that distance. If those two assholes could become President and Vice President of the United States, I figure YOU can easily get to Planet Nine.
We are hiding under the covers too. I am totally disgusted by the Americans who voted for Trump. One can only hope he is impeached and quickly as you can bet your ass that he has very large skeletons in his closet that have not come to light yet
We went to bed at 2:30am still not believing what was happening. We have lived with Paul LePage for six years and fear what is to come. It looks like she won the popular vote but lost the electoral vote. We will work to right this wrong in the mid-term elections. It's a sad day.
I said months ago Trump would win... I am so disappointed that I was proven right. And that so many people either could not see him for the racist, misogynistic, bigoted narcissist he is, or did see and voted for him anyway. We live way too close to the border... time to move to Nunavut.
Knatolee: It's heartbreaking... and frightening. And not just for the United States. I've been hugging Dudo and Moose (and Jerry) an awful lot these past two days.
Please remember that Hillary won the popular vote. It's the ridiculous Electoral College that gave Trump the presidency.
As I said on another blog this morning, "for the next four years, I'll do everything in my power to defend my values and my friends (immigrants, LGBTQ, people of color, the disabled) and to stand up and fight for what's right. I'll be damned if they'll have it easy if they choose to try to take our rights away. Rise up! Rise up! We won the popular vote, there are more of us than there are of them. As Hillary said: we're STRONGER TOGETHER!"

Amen!
DeleteThe BEST blog posting of the morning, THANK YOU, I needed something to laugh at. Can we all come hide under the covers for four years?
ReplyDeleteTravel:
DeleteMoose might not share, but we do have more comforters!
It's like a nightmare that won't go away.
ReplyDeletekrayolakris:
DeleteAll I keep thinking is, I cannot believe this is happening.
the idiots sold us out.
ReplyDeleteanne marie:
DeleteAnd the idiots sold themselves out, too. Idiots!!!
Thanks for this :)
ReplyDeleteJudy:
DeleteJerry's making chicken soup, Dudo is sunning himself on the terrace, and Moose is now looking for love and reassurance.
I think a lot of us are looking for reassurance.... it might be a long wait....
ReplyDeleteSharon:
DeleteAnd there's no telling what will happen over the next four years (or even the next four months)! Oh well, time for a drink!

DeleteThe unfortunate thing about impeachment, however, is that Pence would then become president; and he is an absolute wing-nut asshole.

DeleteWe went for a drive to forget about things for a few hours. It was a nice drive... but it didn't work.
I felt the same the day after the Brexit camp dropped us in deep do-do on this side of the Atlantic. I feel your pain.
ReplyDeleteBon courage!
Jean:
DeleteAnd I feel yours. I was stunned after the Brexit vote.
Moose is not alone!
ReplyDeleteJim:
DeleteIt's a big comforter!
I'd like to crawl under the covers with Moose for the next four years.
ReplyDeleteStephen:
DeleteThere's room.

I did the same thing.
ReplyDeletemistress maddie:
DeleteIt amazes me that so many of us feel so extremely offended by this and yet there is that asshole heading to the white house.
I'm with Moose.
ReplyDeleteBob:
DeleteSo that's YOU under there. I wondered.
