SEPTEMBER 1974: BOARDING AT ROERMOND. DESTINATION AMSTERDAM. (NOTICE THE "MARSHMALLOW" SHOES. I WAS VERY TRENDY.) |
Thursday morning, I'm taking the train to Madrid for three nights. I'm staying with a friend. We're going out to dinner with her friends, and she's going to give me an insider's view of Madrid. No floor this time. I'll have my own bedroom and bathroom. Even so, San Geraldo has decided to stay home with the cats. I'm gonna miss him when I'm gone. And, like the below song says, I know the feeling will be mutual...
I'll follow you!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteDo have a great visit!!
Ron
Haven't left malaga station yet. Im waiting...
DeleteHave a good trip Mitch! We'll miss ya when you're gone!!
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm off!
DeleteOh boy! Will we have photos from Madrid?
ReplyDeleteLove that BOAC carry-on bag.
The suitcase looks heavy... yikes... so glad to have wheels these days :)
Judy. Maybe SOME fotos. That bag weighed a ton!
DeleteSafe, fun, travels!
ReplyDeleteBob. Thanks. The train has left the station...
DeleteI'm still trying to figure out what the heck they're doing with those glasses.... Anyway... have a great time. Hope you keep in touch with your blog. Safe Travels!

DeleteAbsence makes the heart grow fonder!
ReplyDeleteMs Sparrow. And it couldn't be any fonder
DeleteDo have fun. Is that an airline travel bag slung over your shoulder?
ReplyDeleteAndrew. BOAC bag
DeleteLove Madrid, such a beautiful city. So many nice things to see and the restaurants are great. Lucky you. Have a lovely time.
ReplyDeleteThanks. My intro will be via a sophisticated local. What a treat
DeleteMadrid is a great city and I know you'll have a great time. I hope you'll have pictures to share.
ReplyDeleteStephen. Pictutes? From me?
DeleteSafe travels Mitchell! Have fun and bring us lots of stories.
ReplyDeleteJacquelineand....
DeleteNo doubt i'll have something embarrassing to share. ;
When you said "30 years ago", a time when I was going to Amsterdam about 12 times a year, I was just about to say "Oh, so that was YOU in that sauna?" - then I see that you actually meant 40 years ago, a time when I was still a virgin - well, almost - well.....
ReplyDeleteBtw: Are you wearing a necklace in that pic? I shouldn't be surprised if you were. I used to in those heady, post-hippy days.
Do have great fun in Madrid. But if I was in your place I couldn't stop pining for my pussies.
40 years??? Holy crap! When did THAT happen?! Necklace: Either goldfish carved from an olive pit or a "teardrop" of petrified dinosaur dung. Nevet in my life been to a "sauna."
Delete40 years - your photo is captioned 1974 - or have I got it all twisted?
ReplyDeleteNever been to a sauna? Shouldn't that be "Never YET been......" We await the relevant blog with considerable interest.
Oh you have it right. I'm on mobile and have been unable to fix it. Thanks for catching it... I think!
DeleteBon Voyage, Mitch, and a happy return. I love this music!
ReplyDeleteKristi:
DeleteThe train trip was a pleasure. Walked around the city this afternoon. Isn't that music amazing? Check out the original on YouTube.
By the time you read this you'll be home again. Hope you had a great trip and enjoyed the sights, smells and food of Madrid.
ReplyDeleteI know 3 persons you would love to welcome you back home, 1 San Gerarldo, 2 Dudo and last 3 Moose.
Peter:
DeleteHeading to the train station in one hour! Exceptional visit. So much to share when I'm bak home. Can't wait to see all the boys, but especially San Geraldo.
You don't know how badly I wish that I could write that I was taking off for Madrid. Instead, I could say that I drove through Ames, Iowa the other day....Not nearly as sexy, huh?
ReplyDeleteMaria:
DeleteOK. I guess I have to admit that I wouldn't trade with you. So sorry! (Although, I've never been through Ames, so I don't know... maybe it IS sexy)
I was gladdened to see so many well wishers here; You are a fortunate man.
ReplyDeleteSpo:
DeleteIt warms my heart. Thanks. Lots to share from Madrid.
I was in Madrid back in 1978 -- when I was still in the monastery! Loved it. I was with a group of Carmelite students and we spent six weeks in Spain. I would love to get back there some day ...
ReplyDeleteMichael:
DeleteAnd what a different place it would have been back in '78. You'll have to get back to compare...
And what a different person am I, too. ;-)
DeleteI am sure you are having a fabulous time. Can't wait for the blog post about your trip.
