Move In Space With Minimum Waste And Maximum Joy

I took a long walk on the beach today, since it might be my last opportunity for a long walk for a couple of weeks. I'm being herniorrafiated Wednesday afternoon (click here if you don't know what I'm talking about). It was a splendid walk and I got to watch a semi-beginner with a parasail — first on shore and then in the water.

A BEACHED SAIL? (NO ONE TRIED TO ROLL IT BACK IN THE WATER.)

Here's hoping my surgeon, Dr. Fernandez, is a smooth operator.

  1. This will be you, Mitchell, in a couple of months....right?
    Great photos!
Haven't heard Sade in a long while.
    Here's to a smooth recovery.

Ha! This will NEVER be me. The first time I heard Sade was in New England while shopping in a trendy gift shop. I asked the sales clerk who was singing and she told me in pure Bostonese, "Sharday."

  2. That blue! Amazing!
And, another of my favorite songs :)
I'm so glad that you had a wonderful, long walk. You'll be back in shape in no time after the procedure :)

So glad I'm making you happy with my musical selections. The colors today were spectacular and I love how different the sky was in the different directions (and over the course of the two hours I walked).

  3. You could have gone parasailing today... might be the last chance you'll have to do that for a couple of weeks as well ;-) I, too, hope your surgeon is smooth and you recover quickly.

Shoot! I missed my chance. I think I'll need at least 30 or 40 years of recovery before I'm well enough for that!

  4. I went para-sailing years ago while living on Maui; it was a great deal of fun.

Not so fun was reading the word "herniorrafiated." When i read that, I clutched my nether regions ... and not in a good way.

I think herniorrafiated sounds decorative. As for para-sailing: Being up there seems brilliant to me. Coming back down is the part I'd have trouble with.

  5. You'll be flying high and mighty as soon as your procedure is over, well, maybe after a few weeks of recovery.

So glad to be getting this done with today. Talk about making a mountain out of a mole hill ... so to speak!

  6. You did it again, another of my faves as your musical selection! Hope everything goes smoothly for you Mitchell... be sure to eat chocolate for me tomorrow, to keep me from worrying!
Oh, guess what's being made for me tomorrow (started tonight). That's right, traditional onion and poppyseed bialys! This may bode well for you, as the Rabbi and I are putting our heads together...

I missed my chance for chocolate today. I'm now in fasting mode. Maybe tomorrow! Leave out the poppyseeds for mine. I love them, but I hate how they get stuck between my teeth.

  7. The weather is much improved since the last post. We have parasailed in Thailand. We were young and stupid to do so in a country without proper standards etc.

Ah, the ignorance of youth. But I was a bigger coward when I was younger.

Thanks. One would think I was going in for major surgery the way I've been carrying on. It's just a simple face-lift... I MEAN hernia!
