Sunny Circus Stadium Sculptures

A bit more of our day in the Sunday circus sun from Tuesday's post.

Cirque du Soleil took place inside "El Palacio de Deportes [The Sports Palace] José María Martín Carpena" (just tell the taxi driver Palacio de Deportes Carpena or simply Carpena).

Directly opposite "Carpena" is Estadio Ciudad de Málaga (City of Málaga Stadium — where fútbol is played). Before the show (Varekai) started, San Geraldo sat in the sun on the steps of "Carpena" and I went across the road to take pictures of the fun "athletic" sculptures outside the stadium.

(Of course, if you click the images they get bigger.)

THE ALWAYS-CHIC (AND MOSTLY SHAMELESS) SAN GERALDO SITTING IN THE SUN.
WHEN SWEATSHIRT-CHIC PROVED TOO HOT,
IT WAS BACK TO THE CLASSIC STYLING OF THE IKEA DISH TOWEL.

ALEXANDAR AND PAULA NOT BEING ANTISOCIAL.

SOME THINGS NEVER CHANGE.

  1. Love the "classic styling of the Ikea dish towel" shot. SG looks so stoic. I believe watching the show would have worn me out too.

San Geraldo sleeps after most events. When he was in his 30s, he claimed it was because he worked so hard.

He's never done that behind the wheel. So adult of him! Fútbol, yes... sometimes I forget what language I'm in, but I figure if I write football, some Americans might not be clear, and if I say soccer, I offend much of the European Union.

  3. Interesting athletic sculptures. They look a bit surrealistic.

I enjoyed those sculptures but with I had been there at a better time of day for light (and less people).

  4. Ah, San G's famous Ikea towel makes another appearance, he needs a black headband as well to, well, 'sheikh' things up.

Love the sculptures with their child-like glee and energy!

And last night it was the sweatshirt pulled up and tied tightly INSIDE a restaurant. Will have to buy him a headband for the dish towels and then send the photo to some of my extended family. I'd never hear from them again. Good idea!

  5. Mr SG looks quite comfortable.
I might send him a sombrero or something as we have plenty of sun guard chapeaus.
