Este es un ejemplo de "Perdido en la Traducción."
We live just about midway along Fuengirola's Paseo, which is the boulevard that parallels the beach and stretches more than 7 km (4.5 miles). The only permanent structures on the beach are the chiringuitos (beach bars) famous for their fresh seafood, like the sardines that can be seen cooking on spits over open fires. Near the end of the Paseo to the east is a chiringuito, Restaurante Salvador "El Lotero," that is especially popular and often filled to overflowing with Spaniards, which tells me it's probably one of the best. The other day, as I walked by, it looked to me like they were serving up Surf & Turf.
SURF & TURF. SEAFOOD IN FOREGROUND; BEEFCAKE IN BACKGROUND. MAR Y TIERRA. MARISCOS EN PRIMERO; "BEEFCAKE" EN FONDO. |
THE BEEFCAKE IS NOT ON THE MENU. EL "BEEFCAKE" NO ESTÁ EN EL MENÚ. |
BEFORE THE CROWD ARRIVED. ANTES DE LA MULTITUD. |
Oh dear.....for me , everything is on the menu!!!!!! Meanwhile that is a hell of a lot of sardines!!!!!!

DeleteI have never seen another chiringuito with this many sardines on the fire, nor with this many on each skewer. And it's consistently like this. I'm guessing they're really good.
Looks like they're serving up surf and turf----and beefcake!
ReplyDeleteStephen:
DeleteI figured the beefcake was the "turf."
As I sit here in 5C with our furnace on I am trying to imagine the warmth you are experiencing. I am a vegetarian but the turf does look good!
ReplyDeleteTake care Mitchell.

Robin:
DeleteIt's been another summer-like day here. (Sorry!) It's interesting; I've known a lot of vegetarians with a taste for beefcake.
The non-menu items are often the best.
ReplyDeleteWilma:
DeleteI agree.
I love a good chiringuito... good food, good drinks, good atmosphere. I'll pass on the beefcake, though. Not that he'd want the idiot shoving his face full of beer and surf and turf, anyhow.
ReplyDeleteA Beer For The Shower:
DeleteI don't think they actually serve "surf AND turf" -- just "surf." I was referring to HIM as the turf (you know, the meat portion of the meal).
but can he talk politics and philos... oh who the hell cares!

DeleteWe had [no we didn't] a very interesting conversation [impossible] about quantum physics.
I'd quantum his physique - oh sorry you said physics.
DeleteLovely view!

DeleteThe Mediterranean Sea as a backdrop makes anything palatable, doesn't it?
NICE!
ReplyDeleteTravel:
DeleteSo you like sardines? Oh, wait, never mind...
So much choice!!
ReplyDeleteRon:
DeleteI know! Hundreds of fish, but only one cut of beef.
