JUST WHEN I thought we had gotten the bugs worked out of our weekly FaceTime conversations, The Kid Brother decided to go "no video" once again.
"Chuck," I said, "I can't see you."
"I know! I know! Next time!"
I was inspired to share these photos as a result of Saturday's conversation. But it seems to be a good metaphor for life in general.
CUANDO PENSÉ QUE habíamos conseguido los problemas en nuestras conversaciones semanales de FaceTime, El Hermanito decidido ir "ningún vídeo" otra vez.
"Chuck," dije, "no puedo verte."
"¡Lo sé! ¡Lo sé! ¡La próxima vez!
Me había inspirado a compartir estas fotos a causa de la conversación de sábado. Pero parece ser una buena metáfora para la vida en general.
I GOT IT! ¡LO TENGO! |
I GOT IT! ¡LO TENGO! |
YOU AIN'T GOT NOTHIN'! ¡¡¡TÚ NO TIENES NADA!!! |
— Great song and dance video, but all you have to do is listen from around 3:09 to 3:26 and you'll know why I thought of it.
Next week there will be video of you riding the water jet?

DeleteI saw this for the first time last year. I thought it would be fun to try. The going up part looks so exciting. Then I realized I would definitely be coming down and decided against it.
Yes, just when 'we' think everything is going well! BAM!....back to square one!!
ReplyDeleteIt takes a lifetime to learn to 'go with the flow', eh Mitch?
Your photos are blowin my mind, sir!!
Jim:
DeleteThanks so much! At least I don't have the stinging red belly from all MY belly flops!
Thanks for the trip down memory lane with that "Ain't Misbehavin'" clip -- I love that soundtrack!
ReplyDeleteDebra:
DeleteI do, too. And any time anyone says "I've got it!" that's the first thing I hear in my head. You ain't got nothin'!
I just saw one of these on the news here. That looks like it would be very hard to master.

DeleteIt doesn't look easy, although it looks like fun. But I was never one to dive off the high board in a pool, so the idea of crashing into the sea from that height makes this a "no way" activity for me.
Now surprise us all and take the challenge ~ hop onto to that fly in the sky footwear and show us what you are made of ~ maybe! ;-)

DeleteI hate the word "never." But I'm fairly confident that that will NEVER happen!
That looks like it takes a certain level of strength and agility, not to mention balance! There was a time (about 30 years ago) I would have loved to try it out.
ReplyDeleteWilma:
DeleteI don't think I ever would have tried it. And you've got to have your dive form perfected before you start, too. Otherwise, the "landing" could really hurt.
I just want to dive in! It's going to be over 100° F here several days this week. I'd like some ocean/sea, please :)
ReplyDeleteJudy:
DeleteWe're so spoiled. It's been in the 80s here with humidity making it feel like mid-90s. We've usually got a sea breeze and we have that glorious sea (and a pool) for cooling off. And STILL we complain! Being in the water during the Virgen del Carmen procession the other night was glorious!
Hence the little known phrase about 'going hot foot over the water' do you think ?
ReplyDeleteHeron:
DeleteI've never heard that expression!
fantastic photos
ReplyDeleteGosia:
DeleteThanks. Jump in!
Yes those photos are rather good
ReplyDeleteJohn:
DeleteThanks. Taken from our terrace, zoom, and no tripod. It's got to be the camera.
I LOVELOVELOVE that song. Nell Carter! Yassssssssss!
ReplyDeleteBob:
DeleteI do too, obviously. "I don't care who she IS. That's an awfully long solo!"
I'd like to try a water jet, but I don't think I'd be very good at it.
ReplyDeleteStephen:
DeleteI love the idea of it, but I'm too big a coward -- the idea of having the wherewithal and skill to dive back into the water from that height! Of course, I'd probably never even get above water level, so what's the worry!?!
