IT'S FRIENDSHIP, FRIENDSHIP — DUDO HUGGING MOOSE. (CLICK ANY IMAGE TO FEEL THE LOVE.) |
I had a challenging day Saturday. No reason. I was just "off." After coffee, I came home and went back to bed for two hours. San Geraldo — my best friend and one and only — joined me for a cuddle and a nap. That helped.
COVERING EACH OTHER'S BEHINDS. |
I played with Dudo and Moose and enjoyed one of San Geraldo's delicious salads for lunch (and his delicious company). I puttered on the terrace — trimmed and tied the jasmine (which has survived hungry caterpillars and the cyclonic winds of winter), and shuffled plants around.
ONE JASMINE... |
MORE JASMINE. |
I washed windows so I could once again admire the view of the Mediterranean Sea without saying to myself, "The windows need washing." (Being so exposed to the sea, sand, and winds, they need washing once a week — at least.) Then I sat at the computer. Mostly with Dudo on my lap.
A ROOM WITH A [CLEAR] VIEW. |
COPY CATS, DUDO (LEFT) AND MOOSE. (WITH SAN GERALDO'S MOTHER, ALICE, WATCHING OVER EVERYONE.) |
At one point, I was hungry, thirsty, and I needed to "use the office" (click here if you don't know what I mean). But I didn't want to disturb Dudo, so I waited an hour until he got off my lap for a big stretch. I did what I needed to do, sat back down, and Dudo returned to my lap.
BEFORE THE STRETCH... |
... AND AFTER. |
We went to Meson Salvador (where they treat us like family) for dinner with Tom and Linda (family that are friends). And Tynan and Elena (friends who have become family) met us for drinks afterward. Today was a better day. Good friends can make all the difference. Just ask Moose and Dudo.
And now it's time to face the music.
You guys are SO cute! You humans ones, that is! A cuddle and a nap are the best cure for most things!
ReplyDeleteOh those 'off days'.....makes those 'good days' even better!!
I dream about growing Jasmine in our garden!! I can dream! The scent must be wonderful, Mitchell.
Dudo and Moose are precious.
Jim:
DeleteWaiting for the jasmine to bloom. The scent IS wonderful. Right now around town, we've got the scent of orange blossoms in the air.
I know all too well, the feeling of having to do "something" but with a cat in the lap you just wait.
ReplyDeleteI will say, thought, the this post title had me singing Lucy and Ethel's version:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z88w0hV074I
And they're dressed in black-and-white like Dudo and Moose.
Bob:
DeleteI had gone to YouTube with the intention of getting the Lucy & Ethel version. Then I found the Chita Rivera one. But I clearly missed an esthetic opportunity with those B&W dresses!
A cuddle and a nap, and a loving Dudo in your lap... there's another song in there somewhere :)
ReplyDeleteSunshine, friends, love, sea, cats, jasmine... really! What a great mix!
Judy:
DeleteAnd all is well again. Right now, oddly, my lap is Dudo-free. I'm sure it won't be long...
The four of you seem pretty content in your casa by the sea.
ReplyDeleteStephen:
DeleteIt's a very nice life.
I had a lousy day yesterday too but ended it with cider, Dinner with Mom and hubby and icecream. In the end thats all that matters (including dropping pills I needed to take in hubby's stinky shoe to give you any indication - was in tears over a damn accounting issue that I needed to sort out).
ReplyDeleteCheapchick:
DeleteOoh, cider! I ended that day with Pionono (similar to Bailey's Irish Cream... only better).
Family, friends and kitties... and of course, a hug from Jerry... that has to bring you out of the "feel-bads". Hope the blues pass right over with the wind....
ReplyDeleteSharon:
DeleteThe wind did blow the blues away!
The D & M pics are priceless. Isn't it wonderful how animals living together, despite the occasional spats, don't seem to bear grudges towards each other? A lesson for us all.
ReplyDeleteI looked at Bob S's suggestion of the clip with Lucy and Viv singing the same song - and, blow me down, it was precisely what I thought it might be, something that I've not seen since the original broadcast which must have been about 55 years ago, yet it had lodged itself in my memory indelibly. I'd actually remembered it as having been much longer and more confrontational, but that's false memories for you. But it was a delight to have seen it again for the first time since.....well, since I'd only just started guiltily discovering the forbidden delights of the flesh.(I don't know what that's got to do with anything, but there you are.)
Raybeard:
DeleteWhenever I think of the song, I DO first think of Lucy and Ethel. However, I never had connected THAT with "the forbidden delights of the flesh."
The Duo are there to care on days just like these. Me thinks they are doing fab job, just look at those beautiful eyes staring at you and us!!
ReplyDeleteI can smell the jasmine ~~ soon very soon!
R
Ron:
DeleteI love when Dudo gets into position so he can just look right into my eyes. I'll do a scratch-n-sniff post when the jasmine starts to bloom.
It sounds as though the day did improve after all.
ReplyDeleteAnd what wonderful pictures. In spite of their twin-like markings, you can still see that Dudo and Moose have very different faces. Cats really are individuals.
Marty:
DeleteThe day did get better.
Dudo and Moose actually look very different, once you get to know them. Moose has more of a black eye mask to Dudo's black under-eye liner. Dudo has more white overall -- his hind legs, behinds his ears. Also Dudo is very spindly and Moose is, well... a moose!
the first picture of them hugging is absolutely priceless
ReplyDeleteHK:
DeleteI thought that was adorable.
I always love the cats' antics and the photos.
ReplyDeleteMichael:
DeleteI probably should have a separate "cat blog." So many photos!
such a lovely view, million dollar view they call it.
ReplyDeleteLaurent:
DeleteThe view really is wonderful. And the sunrises!
Those wild and zany cats!
ReplyDeleteSpo:
DeleteDudo has just brought three toys onto the sofa next to me. I told him I'm not playing now... but we all know who's going to win.
