Dusting For Prints

The terrace is coming together — slowly. But that hasn't kept the cats from lounging in the sun and exploring their newly safe and always available space.

The monk parakeets have been spending an awful lot of time in the palm tree right out front. Dudo and Moose have, therefore, been spending an awful lot of time at the drain hole hoping for an errant bird.

San Geraldo vacuumed the terrace but not before the boys tracked dirt and dust all over the house (although they both deny it).

(Click the images and see if you can identify the prints.)

MOOSE INSPECTS THE MESS AND
THE CAT-EATING VACUUM CLEANER.
THE PIANO BENCH.
DUDO: "I DIDN'T DO IT!"
MOOSE: "WELL, DON'T LOOK AT ME!"
DUDO WAITS WHILE MOOSE WATCHES THE TREE.
AND DUDO TAKES HIS TURN.
"DO YOU BELIEVE THOSE CLOWNS?!? AS IF!!!"

And "we" didn't even have to clean it. Jerry simply sat on it to practice and dusted off most of the paw prints!

  2. You're lucky you don't have a 107 pound Weimador tracking in dust and shedding.

  3. Am surprised that you have not fitted up your cats with suede bootees ?

It's just not the climate. They prefer going bare-pawed and they're in charge.

  4. We loved those parrots - saw them at the park down by the waterfront in Malaga. I am sure they provide hours of endless entertainment for your furry duo

They have apparently become a problem in some places, but we really enjoy them... so far.

But they insist it wasn't them. The jury is still out.

  6. Yes, you must watch out for those cat-eating vacuum cleaners.

I love seeing videos of people vacuuming their cats! We have never had a cat that would stay anywhere near one.

It's a complete transformation. AND, although street noise is greatly reduced (and there's really not much anyway), we can still hear the surf!

  9. Sometimes making home improvements - even small ones - can be quite life changing. For some years now my Mother has been going back and forth on installing a screen door on the front door of their house. The major reason she was against it - she loved her faux-leadlight front door and felt that the screen door would remove her enjoyment of the beauty of her front door.

Eventually - and this is always the case with my parents, it takes a minimum of six months to get them used to a new idea or concept - they installed the screen door. Now they can safely open the inside doors at night and enjoy a breeze through the house. They are saving a packet on airconditioning costs. And it turns out, the front door is MORE viewable because when it is open, she can see it from her lounge room chair. So she gets to enjoy it more this way.

I imagine if I lived at yours, I would be out on the terrace for much of the day. And I love the cat prints. Now if you could just put some paint on their feet and get them to walk on a canvas? :)

I love your idea of putting paint on the cats' feet... in someone else's house! Unlike your mother, Jerry and I make decisions very quickly. We had a friend in California who took 6 months to decide to shave off his mustache and 2 years to decide what color to paint the one-inch trim on his windows on his huge white house. He knew he wanted terra cotta but couldn't decide what shade. By the time he had the trim painted, he had about 12 strips of painted wood leaning against the house. You could barely tell the difference and when it was done, the trim was so delicate that you really couldn't even see it anyway. We had already moved twice!

I think the piano bench is what is called "powder coated." Those monk parakeets are prolific around here.

That could explain why Dudo was smiling during the night.
