Just Desserts

This is the last from our trip to Estepona (until our next visit).

Some shots of the drive from here to there, a couple from the interior of the Orchidarium Estepona, and ... Tirramisu!

(Click the images for a closer look — and a much larger slice of tirramisu.)

A FINE DAM VIEW, I MUST SAY.
THE OTHER ROCK OF GIBRALTAR.
SAN GERALDO IS MINE.
DRIVING THE TOLL ROAD (AUTOPISTA)
INSTEAD OF THE FREE ROAD (AUTOVIA).
ENTERING A LITTLE BIT OF PARADISE.
THE VIEW FROM THE UPPER LEVEL.
UNDERWATER[FALL].
DROWNING OUR ELECTION WEEK SORROWS.
NOTE TO SAN GERALDO: DO NOT INHALE THE COCOA POWDER.

I've since learned that's the Embalse de La Concepcion (La Concepcion Dam), which forms the reservoir by the same name, and it's home to otters (which are rare here), rainbow trout, and more.

  2. I was admiring the pictures of the flora both inside and outside the building but then Carlos saw the tiramisu and demanded I zoom in.

Carlos shows very good judgment. That specific tiramisu is native to that particular cafe in Estepona. The flora are mostly imports.

  3. Damn it that is a good looking dam. Great pics of the hot house plants and water feature.
Laughed at seeing Rock of Gibraltar in the mist or is it fog ? (anti-british joke)
Oh' gosh you have made my mouth water and I am starting to dribble at the sight of the delicious looking tirramasu. Did you have a second slice ?

It is ironic that it usually clear and sunny Southern Spain, every time I've seen Gibraltar from a distance, it's been shrouded in fog.

I just mentioned this in a previous reply but I'll tell you here, too, I've since learned that's the Embalse de La Concepcion (La Concepcion Dam), which forms the reservoir by the same name, and it's home to otters (which are rare here), rainbow trout, and more. Canoeing is very popular there, which I'm not telling Jerry or he'll what to buy a new canoe!

Loved seeing the 'original' Rock of Gibraltar from your angle.

I stopped at Gibraltar while traveling on business in 2006. It's less than an hour and a half away; I wonder if we'll ever bother!

I know! The Rock of Gibraltar does that to me, too.

  6. I think I could inhale the cocoa powder and all of the rest of that dessert! Hopefully if such a work of art gets placed before me, I'll resist the urge, and savor it. :) Beautiful photos.

No need to savor. Inhale and order another.

Can you imagine what that looks like dripping with flowers? I promise to go back and take photos for comparison.

  12. Did they not tell you Tiramisu is for tourists. I never eat the thing. I also think it is illegal to snort cocoa powder, somewhere in Nebraska. LOL.

Tiramisu is really, popular around here. I hardly ever had it in the States and have it regularly at non-touristy places here. There are places in the USA where it's probably illegal to even SAY cocoa powder!
