Finnish Fashion Fuengirola
There are plenty of fashionable Finns in Fuengirola — back in Finland, too, no doubt. But here (and I assume, there) are Finns a bit more festive and, well, folksy. Maybe they're former Finnish flower children. Or Finnish farmers. The colors and patterns knock out my New York noir. I find it fun and fascinating. And, for now at least, I'm finished.

DeleteI saw her on the street today. She was wearing a hot pink windbreaker and the most amazingly embroidered long skirt in every color of the rainbow.

ReplyDeleteFritz and I spent almost a week n Finland -- Helsinki and environs, then the train across the country to Turku. The Finns are wonderful people, the food was great, but the buildings! The design! These people value and know how to make a distinguished visual environment.

DeleteIt's odd. One would think she'd be roasting. We were all wearing shorts and sandals. You can see the woman behind her in a tank top. She must come from the very hot Finnish desert! (I know. I know.)
Hmmm, I wonder if she wears all of her clothes at the same time? (Could she be homeless? Probably not is she goes to a cafe.) Maybe she has attained that exalted state of being to which I fondly aspire, namely lovably eccentric!

DeleteNope, not wearing it all at once. I saw her getting on the bus yesterday in another spectacular outfit. No sweater. A light-weight, maxi-length, hot-pink wind-breaker.

Layer upon layer of blue. I wonder if she has several skirts on, or whether it's just made that way. She looks serene and calm, whatever!

I used to work with a Finnish chap - was he ever weird or what? Strange Scandinavian psyche, almost unfathomable to anyone south of Helsinki.
