OUR FRIEND KATHLEEN texted a photo to me Friday morning. It was a local newspaper article announcing that HGTV is "looking for [native English-speaking] energetic couples and families who are searching for a new home on the Costa del Sol." It's for a new show called "Mediterranean Life." A representative from HGTV actually emailed me, out of the blue, a few years ago to set up a phone call. I sent her a return email with scheduling options and then never heard from her again. Do I dare contact them? Should we consider moving again, so we're of more interest? Would I even want to be a part of it? Would San Geraldo? Could I handle the fame?
I'll have to discuss it with "my people."
Has anyone seen "my people"?
WITH MY SISTER DALE, 1958. READY FOR HGTV. CON MY HERMANA DALE, 1958. LISTO PARA HGTV. |
MY PEOPLE! (NO BIRDS? NOT INTERESTED.) ¡MI GENTE! (¿NO HAY PÁJAROS? NO INTERASADOS.) |
D & M - always alert to checking out any movement at all in any place.
ReplyDeleteRay:
DeleteMoose, shadows on the wall. Dudo... birds. (While they waited for me to get up and give them their treats. The next shot they're both staring directly at me, wide-eyed.)
Dudo and Moose already have a long-running contract with Animal Planet to film their life with their goofy humans. Oh, you didn't know that you and San Geraldo are secretly on a reality show?
ReplyDeleteDebra:
DeleteAnimal Planet! Now THAT would be fun.
dudo & moose are ready for their close up...not so sure about their daddies, though...
ReplyDeleteanne marie:
DeleteThe boys are so much more photogenic than their staff.
Whatever you decide, looks like Dudo and Moose are ready for their close ups?
ReplyDeleteBut that's a lot of question to answers.....have a gin and think more I say. Or maybe soon, very soon the Casa du Borghese can help you.
mistress maddie:
DeleteCamera crew in the house? Dudo would be under the bed or in the closet. I'll let you know when we need you to fly out to make the house photo-ready.
A reality show?...... following you around your every move? Hm-m-m-m
ReplyDelete'Your people' don't seem very interested at all. But I guess as long as there are birds in the picture.....
Jim:
DeleteDudo and Moose will have nothing to do with it.
DO IT!!
ReplyDeleteI'll bet they won't care that you've lived in your home for a while now LOL. Really, the show just manipulates everything to fit the format -- who cares! You looked for it at some point! It would be SO MUCH FUN (for us) to see you two and your apartment!

Judy:
DeleteInteresting that your comment and Frank's, below, are so similar. It sounds like fun, but I have a feeling the reality would be something different. Besides, I'd have to get a whole new wardrobe... Ooh, on second thought...
I heard that the show when televised is not exactly what it appears to portray. Convince them to show your current residence as one of the 3 possibles, then choose your place as the "winner" so you don't have to move a thing - at least I think that's pretty close to how it works.
ReplyDeleteFrank:
DeleteYou and Judy (above) had the same sense of the shows. But I doubt (to understate it) you'll be seeing us on HGTV.
Your "people" are gorgeous and very photogenic! I don't watch HGTV so I got nuthin".
ReplyDeleteDeedles:
DeleteI have enjoyed some of HGTV's shows. And, yes, my people are photogenic. Wish I could say the same for me.
great photos love
ReplyDeleteI share Dudo's and Moose's levels of enthusiasm. Birds are more fun.
ReplyDeleteWilma:
DeleteI agree... although, for me, the birds are getting a bit old. It never ends! Dudo is at the drain hole right now and Moose is watching him watch the drain from the windowsill.
I'd try to see if they'd let Dudo and Moose do the house hunt!
ReplyDeleteBob:
DeleteWell, they'd love to explore the other apartments in our building... from terrace to terrace.
I gather Dudo and Moose are related?
ReplyDeleteKirk:
DeleteLittermates.
Go for it!
ReplyDeleteI can spread the word and you will become famous.
The cats will be famous
and
so will S.G.
Ron:
DeleteDudo hates fame and will have nothing to do with it. San Geraldo and I like our lives of anonymity.
Aren't we your people? :)
ReplyDeleteSnoskred:
DeleteI am honored. Just don't tell Dudo and Moose.
Do you really want the paparazzi disturbing your peaceful life. Like at the poor bloke who wrote about Provence ... Peter something or other. People use to drive up to his house and ask for tours ...
ReplyDeleteWillym:
DeleteOh, the paparazzi follow me wherever I go (or maybe those are just the paparazzi voices in my head).
Become semi famous
ReplyDeleteAdam:
DeleteAlmost famous is good enough for me.
Another 15 minutes of fame.
ReplyDeleteTravel:
DeleteIf that much...
You could win an award for best of...., lots of drama and that touch of real people. Maybe Oprah can make an appearance or Regis Philbin for that neighbourhood feel for the seniors. Sounds exciting and then they would give you lines and you would say something inappropriate with a devil may care look. Oh the possibilities!
ReplyDeleteLaurent:
DeleteYes, the fantasy is much better than the reality would be!
LOL
ReplyDeleteeven as I scrolled down I was going to say your cats are your people - and there they are !
