Breaking Down 69 / Descomponer 69

I WASN'T GOING to tell you how old San Geraldo is today, but the sparklers will give it away. (He's either 6 or 9 and based on his behavior, I'd say 6.) Anway, that's our friend Pedro with the birthday cake. We celebrated Friday night at Kathleen and Pedro's house.

Friday morning I asked San Geraldo if he wanted ME to bake him a cake. Without hesitation, he snapped, "No!" I pretended to be insulted (he knew I was relieved). But I bought something delicious and I found sparklers instead of candles. It took so long for Pedro and me to get a sparkler lit that we had to present them one at a time. We all sang in English with the 6 and then in Spanish with the 9. (Maybe San Geraldo is just too old to do the 6 and the 9 all at once anyway.)

MAYBE NOT THE BEST PLACE FOR THE BOX OF MATCHES.
QUIZÁS NO ES EL MEJOR LUGAR PARA UNA CAJA DE FÓSFOROS.
WE COULDN'T GET THE 9 LIT FAST ENOUGH. SO, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
NO PUDIMOS HACER QUE EL 9 QUEMARA AL MISMO TIEMPO. ENTONCES, ¡HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
FELIZ CUMPL.EAÑOS, WITH THE 9, CAME NEXT.
FELIZ CUMPL.EAÑOS, CON EL 9, VINO DESPUÉS.

Ironic when the number of 29th birthdays you've had puts you over 40.

That's another double entendre my father used to use... "I got two words for you... And they're not happy birthday."

  12. Happy Birthday to San Geraldo. He is fortunate you know how to pick out a good cake even though you may not bake

And it's especially difficult to pick out a good cake when they never compare to what he creates. This one was entirely different from anything he does, AND it was delicious. What a relief.

  13. Happy belated birthday to the good San G. (Hey, if he's a Saint, hasn't he got some miracles on record--other than picking the right spouse, that is? Inquiring minds want to know.)
