Living In The Sunlight / Viviendo A La Luz Del Sol

La versión español está después de la primera foto.

I'M WAITING FOR the sun to shine on the Costa del Sol or I'm going to request a name change to the Costa de la Lluvia (the Rain Coast). We usually at least have moments of sunshine. Not so these last two days. Our aloes in the hall have been "fixin' to bloom" as they say in Texas, but they'd be a lot better fixed if the sun would come out. (Click here to see what they looked like one month ago.)

My mood has been like the recent weather (sunny one moment and cloudy the next) — these last two days, mostly cloudy. I've been on the same anti-depressant medication for more than five years and suspect that its effectiveness has petered out. So, I'm phasing off the old and phasing in the new. Hoping for sunshine inside and out.

YES, MOOSE, THAT HAS GROWN A LOT. YOU JUST NOTICED?!?
SÍ, MOOSE, QUE HA CRECIDO MUCHO. ¿¡¿ACABAS DE NOTARLO?!?

  1. I usually don't care for succulents, but you've got very attractive ones.
Depression can be a real bitch! I have meds for pain whose side effects may include depression. I wouldn't know the difference.
I honestly didn't know that Tiny Tim sang more than one song.

  2. Yes, I see that umbrella propped up in the corner of your entry. I'm afraid to wish for it, but we could sure use some rain. Hoping the sun shines on you soon, metaphorically and literally!

    1. Wilma,
Plenty of sunshine and still showers at times here. I’m thankful I’m already leveling off with meds during this heartbreaking week.

  3. I have never seen an aloe flower bud! Amazing! Let alone a blossom!
Didn't know that these drugs could lose their effectiveness.
Hoping the new does what it's supposed to do.
And here's to some sunlight in your life very soon, Mitch.

    1. Jim,
Very common for anidepressants to poop out. I’m now done with the old and will be at full strength on the new in a couple of days. So far so good.

  4. Where have you gone, Tiny Tim? (Yes okay, I know)
Our nation turns its lonely eyes to you.

Having just heard the news re Syria (it's 3.30 a.m. here), if T.T. came back to this mad world right now he'd be just about the sanest thing in it.
So I think we could all do with some anti-depressants, though of course we wish you, Mitch, especial assistance with what you're taking. If you're changing hope you have better results.

    1. Adam,
But usually mostly sunshine and we’ve had a few glorious days. Anyway it’s at least a beautiful view.

  7. I'm sick of it, too. My grass is about a foot tall and I can't cut it 'cause it's too wet out there. All I can do is watch it grow and fret about having to cut it later.

  8. May you "go dancing in the rain," and welcome the sunshine.

  9. Well, at least you have some very cool photos :)
That new restaurant looks very promising, by the way!

  10. Look at the bright side, you'll have more ocean to swim in.

  11. I am quite jealous we need the rain. Another wildfire has just gotten huge because of the high winds and dry conditions.
In all my years of seeing aloes I have never seen any as pretty and fabulous as your plants.
    Love Moose !

    cheers, parsnip

  12. You may send all that rain here; rainy days invariably cheer me up.
