WE FINISHED THEM OFF IN ONE SITTING... JUST AS DALE WOULD HAVE DONE. |
1954: LOOK AT MY EYES! MY REACTION TO THOSE CUSTOM FABRICS, PERHAPS? OR MAYBE JUST MY SHOCK AT MISPLACING MY FEET. |
Speaking of misplaced feet: Once Dale hit her teens, she began to train me in some basic social skills. For about a week before any party — wedding, bar mitzvah, school event — she'd drag me into her room every night, turn on her record player, and [try to] teach me to dance. The results weren't exceptional but the lessons were a joy.
Dale taught me dancing in a hurry...
What great memories....so Dale is accredited for your good dance skills, eh Mitch? As well as for your sweet tooth!
ReplyDeleteIt must have been so comforting to have her by your side when you did.
Jim:
DeleteDale is accredited for TRYING to teach me to dance and for at least enabling me to not make a complete fool of myself at those events. I was never able to let loose enough and just dance. I loved the feeling I get when I look at those pictures of us together.
Cookies and dancing? What a great sister she was.
ReplyDeleteCheapchick:
DeleteAnd chocolate Santas and Easter Bunnies. She was the best!
Lovely memories Mitchell. Cookies? Sounds like my kind of lady.
ReplyDeleteCat Lover:
DeleteDale had a sweet tooth and was always introducing me to good things. (Cadbury Fruit and Nut!)
we In England call them Jaffa cakes mmmmm
ReplyDeleteAnon:
DeleteThanks for sharing that. I was going to include that in the description and forgot.
I wish I had a sister who taught me to dance. I've two left feet.
ReplyDeleteStephen:
DeleteUnfortunately, she didn't give me a foot transplant. But she did her best to make me look coordinated and confident.
Such great memories and a sweet way - in all senses - to relive them.
ReplyDeleteWillym:
DeleteDale was Queen of Sweets. So, I'm always coming across good things that remind me of her.
bless her; wonder what she would be like today? was dale as feisty as the duchess?
ReplyDeleteanne marie:
DeleteThanks for asking. I had never thought about whether or not she was like the Duchess. Now that I consider it, I'm pretty certain she was absolutely nothing like her. Fascinating. I don't even know how much she was like our father. It seems she was completely her own individual. I'm going to be pondering this for a while. Wow!
Sweet memories.
ReplyDeleteWilma:
DeleteAnd just looking at the photos of us makes my heart fill with love. What memories.
