FEBRUARY 18, FRESHLY PLANTED. |
I REMOVED THE LINT (TOP RIGHT) WITH TWEEZERS. |
THE LOWER (DRY) FLOWER WAS THERE WHEN WE BOUGHT IT. I THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE FAKE. |
THE COLLECTION OF HIBISCUS ON OUR TERRACE ARE OVERJOYED. |
WITH BOUGAINVILLEA IN BACKGROUND. |
AND CHECK OUT MY 'MOON SHOT' TAKEN LAST NIGHT! AS I REPEATEDLY TELL SAN GERALDO, I LOVE MY NEW CANON POWERSHOT SX720 HS WITH 40X OPTICAL ZOOM. |
Nice moon, Mitchell. Just sayin'.
ReplyDeleteWe had azaleas blooming, trees in bloom, roses blooming .... and then it snowed yesterday!
The blooms were not happy.
Bob:
DeleteThanks for admiring my full moon. I can't believe the weather you're having. Ours changed yesterday, but nothing compared to yours! And our enclosed terrace is unaffected.
With a Canon Powershot no less. Great photos, nice flowers. Too early for cactus blossoms here, but spring is definitely in the air...should be in the 80's by Sunday.
ReplyDeleteFrank:
DeleteWith a CANON POWERSHOT SX720 HS WITH 40X OPTICAL ZOOM. I've become like Edith Bunker with her "cling peaches... in heavy syrup." I need a camera that's small enough to fit in a pocket of my small shoulder bag, so I keep graduating to the same Canon line only with stronger zoom. My first was 8X. Then came 20X. Now 40X. And I love the quicker, more accessible controls on my latest model. I used to be much more frugal, but even this is not a hugely expensive camera. I've been seeing the Southern California desert blooms in pictures from friends and family. A spectacular year. Hope you enjoy the same.
Hibiscus is one of my most favourite flowers! Doesn't grow well here in Canada, of course, except indoors where it's warm.
ReplyDeleteDebra:
DeleteHibiscus is one of mine, too. We never had much success in San Diego. We (Jerry) has learned her to spray weekly in the battle of the bugs. That has worked. Amazing.
Get out! You got that shot of the moon!? The flowers are soooo lovely, too :)
ReplyDeleteJudy (Don't have time to sign out and in with my other account LOL)
Judy:
DeleteI couldn't believe the detail I was able to get while holding the camera unsteadily in the air. I'm so excited. And it's still simple to use and pocket-size.
I love your moon shot! I am hunting for a new camera and will check out yours online.
ReplyDeleteThe cactus flowers are lovely. My Christmas cactus is blooming at the moment so at least we have a few flowers in the house.
Take care.
Cat Lover:
DeleteI'm not a camera pro. I like to stay on the cheap side (at 308 euros, this is more than I've spent in recent years) and it has to be compact for carrying around in a pocket or in my bag all the time. I'm very happy with this so far. We have a beautiful, huge, lush, leafy Christmas cactus that never blooms!
That Moon shot!! Good camera but also you get the credit, Mitch, for seeing this!
ReplyDeleteWe will be waiting till the cows come home before our cacti bloom.
Nice shots of the plants. They obviously LOVE the new terrace.
Jim:
DeleteThe terrace has become paradise. And two amaryllis are setting buds again!
Flower happiness and moon glow. Thanks, Mitchell!
ReplyDeleteWilma:
DeleteMy pleasure! Thanks to you for your visits and comments!
Beautiful! Spring flowers always lift the spirits, even when they're cactus flowers.
ReplyDeleteWalt the Fourth:
DeleteI find cactus flowers a bit magical.
