FICUS MICROCARPA, BONSAI. ALSO KNOWN AS: CHINESE, MALAYAN, OR TAIWAN BANYAN; INDIAN LAUREL; CURTAIN FIG; OR GAJUMARU. |
FOR THE DRACAENA BEHIND IT, WHICH MAY NEVER MOVE AGAIN! |
A QUIRKY CENTERPIECE FOR THE TABLE ON THE TERRACE. IT ATTACKED SAN GERALDO AT THE GARDEN CENTER. |
OF COURSE WE HAD LUNCH AT PAPAS FRITAS Y HUEVOS. DESSERT WAS NATILLAS DE CHOCOLATE! |
NOTICE SAN GERALDO PULLING AWAY BEFORE I COULD GET THIS OLIVE TREE IN THE CAR?!? I WANTED IT FOR THE TERRACE [IN MY DREAMS]. |
Exciting and yummy day, it seems!
ReplyDeleteIs that a Baobab??
Judy:
DeleteThat last photo is a very old olive!
That last one would weigh the car down , no? I also love the huge pot you took home. The cactus scares me. I'm not a cactus person. I only like pricks of a certain kind.
ReplyDeletemistress maddie:
DeleteThat last one would probably crash our third-floor terrace down to zero! I love any kind of cactus but, like you, I only like pricks of a certain kind.
Now, in this post YOU remind me of Carlos and SG reminds me of me. Oh how many times I've had to yank Carlos from a garden center because he saw the perfect .....
ReplyDeleteBob:
DeleteI could buy everything! It's a good thing our terrace isn't high enough for things like that... and couldn't support the weight. Tell Carlos I have the perfect viveros for him. If you come to Spain, we can go!
I'd be trying to get that last one in my car as well.
ReplyDeleteStephen:
DeleteThose old olive trees are brilliant sculptures. Jerry and I agreed it's a good thing we don't have a house with gardens here.
@maddie - YOU WOULD! ;-b
ReplyDeleteI like the barrel cactus; wonder if it will ever bloom for you?
anne marie:
DeleteI hope it will bloom. Every other cactus we've had here has bloomed for us... except our big Christmas cactus, but then that's not REALLY a cactus anyway!
Apparently you are not allowed to doddle, glad you made it home after he tried to drive away. The cactus is a great idea for the patio, the kitties are unlikely to try and maim it. I love that little banyan.
ReplyDeleteCheapchick:
DeleteThe little banyan is actually an ancient olive. I updated the caption. Sorry about that. Jerry, too, wishes we could take home a bunch of those huge olive trees.
Olive tree needs to live with you guys, hear me!
ReplyDeleteThose cacti are so nice. The bonsai intrigues me to know end. Tried nurturing one many years ago.
Chocolate OK you guys!

DeleteWe'll see what success we have with the bonsia. I already discovered that this one wants full sunshine, which is not what we were planning to give it. So, it's been moved!
Sigh... in April it will be a year since we were in Spain! I wish I were there right now!!!
ReplyDeleteKnatolee:
DeleteI wish you were here, too, and that we could spend more time together!
those sorts of cacti are everywhere here; we have several in the front yard - they are practically weeds.
ReplyDeletespo:
DeleteThe Getty Museum in LA has a beautiful and dramatic barrel cactus garden. Have you seen it? We'd love to have the space for it!
