It's back to sandals weather and it's time for me to replace my two-year-old Ecco Offroad sandals. They're great for walking and hiking but the insoles have begun to split. So, if I go too far, I develop blisters.
Wednesday, I went too far. After an easy 10km (6-mile) walk in the sunshine, the bottom of my left foot resembled a bit of bubble wrap. (Click the images and you'll understand why I kept on walking. And don't worry, the blister won't get any bigger although all the other images will.)
MILES FROM HOME.
SWAN IN DRY DOCK ON THE UNDER-RENOVATION FUENGIROLA RIVER.
STING WILL PERFORM AT SOHAIL CASTLE 17 JULY. THERE ARE STILL 2 GOOD SEATS, TOGETHER, FOR ONLY €175 ... EACH.
DECAPITATED FLAMINGO. AT LEAST I ONLY HAD A BLISTER.
HEAD OVER HEELS... NO, WAIT... HEAD UNDER HEELS?
EVEN WITH THE BLISTER, BY THE END OF MY WALK,
I WAS OVER THE MOON... NO, WAIT... UNDER THE MOON!
here I sit shivering; it snowed yesterday, and we are expecting a nor'easter on tuesday. your sunny seacoast pix make me smile. and make me jealous. you can keep your blister.
If I wore my sandals today I'd get frost bite! I love the walks you take, Mitch. It must be invigorating with all that beauty around you. Dip those feet into the salt water.....it has healing power for blistered feet.
If I had a walk like that available to me I'd be halfway to Italy by now.
Which reminds me of an old Ellen joke: My grandmother started walking five miles a day when she was 81. Today she's 92 and we have no idea where she is.
Bob: If I were a better swimmer (like superhuman), I could swim directly east to Sicily! Much easier than walking across the Pyrenees. Ellen's grandmother is here.
mistress maddie: In addition to the swans, there are also dragons, flamingos, and other animals. The sandals never need any breaking in. I just need to buy them! Either that or wear my current ones with socks... and that's not about to happen!
Debra: As teens, my sister and I used go barefoot all summer. When my mother noticed the callouses on our feet, she sniped, "If I had known you were going to treat your feet that way, I never would have bought you the best quality shoes when you were young!" (This from a woman whose slippers had 2-inch heels!)
That is a huge owie! I have invested in much better shoes over the last 2 years, feet comfort is a huge thing, especially for someone who loves walking like you do.
Perhaps you should have worn white socks with those sandals! To go with the mismatched plaid shorts and shirt you like so well. But, as you mentioned, you kept your head. ;-)

Ouch! Nice place to walk.

DeleteIt sure is. I haven't had a good walk since Wednesday and I'm going through withdrawal!

DeleteWe've been having summer days here. Since I couldn't walk much yesterday, I lounged on the beach. So sorry for you. I swear I am!
Wonderful photos Mitchell! It is hard to imagine wearing sandals right now as we shiver with -15C.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your paradise!
Cat Lover:
DeleteUf!!! We couldn't tolerate 4C in London last month. -15C would destroy us!!!

DeleteTomorrow, the feet go in the water. Couldn't figure how to avoid the sand to get there!

Beautiful photos!!!! And I adore the swan paddle boat! But that blister looks very painful. Take it easy now...break in those sandals slowly.

ReplyDeleteP.S. Your blister is heart-shaped.
DeleteWilma:
DeleteOh, I considered socks and immediately said, "No way in hell!" They'd think I was from England or Finland ... or Washington State or Oregon!
I tried to see Africa or India in blister and it wasn't even close. It never dawned on me to look at it from the side. A heart!!!
Ouch! Looks painful.
ReplyDeleteStephen:
DeleteIt's so much better today. Maybe even a walk tomorrow!
Ouch indeed!
ReplyDeleteI hope you heal soon. Lay off the stilettos and open ended toes.
