Our friends Kathleen and Pedro (parents of 16-month-old Luke) were moving furniture out of an old apartment last week when Pedro hurt his back. It was so bad they ended up hiring someone to finish the work. It's been a few days and, although it's much better than it was, Pedro's back is still causing him some pain. We met for dinner last night and immediately noticed that he was moving stiffly.
"It feels like childbirth," he moaned.
LUKE: "YOU DID NOT JUST SAY THAT!"
"It's better than it was," Pedro had the nerve (balls?) to continue. "At first the pain was so bad I felt like I was giving birth to twins."
(Click the images to feel Pedro's pain.)
IT LOOKS EXACTLY LIKE CHILDBIRTH, DOESN'T IT?
A COUPLE OF WEEKS BEFORE LABOR. (LUKE'S PHONY CAMERA SMILE.)
So glad, for Kathleen's sake, it wasn't Man Flu. I've heard that's even worse than childbirth.
Man or woman who has not had a child should not say that...but yes, the Man flu is also a point of contention. Hubby is the largest baby when sick ever.
Reminds me of a story I recently heard/read: Getting kicked in the balls is more painful than childbirth. The proof? Often, after having a child, a woman will say, "I think I'd like to have another." No man, after getting kicked in the balls, has ever been heard to say, "Hey, I think I'd like another kick in the balls." Or something like that. Have a nice day.
Hello everybody! Actually it felt like delivering a baby everytime I had to stand up or sit down! Now I feel some much better and ready to make some babies! Wink wink!

Yikes, I feel his pain! Back pain is horrible. Little Luke is a cutie! Hope Pedro is feeling better soon.
ReplyDeleteCat Lover:
DeleteLuke is the sweetest little boy! You're very kind to not give Pedro crap about "man pain," although it's clear it does hurt.
Does the music make you want to buy a pair of motorcycles and tour the country?
ReplyDeleteTravel:
DeleteNope. But it does make me want to be wild.
He's lucky to be alive .... after saying that.
ReplyDeleteBob:
DeleteI agree. But Kathleen just laughed.
Tsk . . . MEN! *eyeroll*
ReplyDeleteDebra:
DeleteAnd I think he really meant it. It's a good thing he's cute.
I wouldn't know, for which I am thankful! Pedro likes to live dangerously, doesn't he?
ReplyDeleteWilma:
DeletePedro clearly knows his limits. Kathleen is a saint.
Pedro is one brave soul!! But of course 'we guys' know what pain is!!
ReplyDeleteJim:
DeleteI knew someone who, after listening to her friend talk about the agony of childbirth said, "I had a kidney stone!"

ReplyDeleteCheapchick:
DeleteI think I'm pretty pathetic, but Jerry makes me look so tough!
I think men place themselves in a vulnerable position when they compare any pain to childbirth.
ReplyDeleteStephen:
DeleteI agree. And I've never heard one compare his pain to delivering twins!
I'll take the safe route - No comment ;-)
ReplyDeleteHeron:
DeleteI simply took Kathleen's side and gave Pedro a hard time about his claim. Kathleen just found it funny... and was sympathetic anyway.
Did anyone think to release his man bun? I understand that, when too tight, they can be excruciating!
ReplyDeleteJack:
DeleteI'll suggest it. I wonder if it's pulling on the muscles in his back.

ReplyDeleteWalt the Fourth:
DeleteThis is a perfect defense. Thanks. Women just don't understand.

ReplyDeletePetie:
DeleteYeah, you're ready — to do YOUR part of the baby-making! But still, we're all glad you're better.
