Today Bridle, Tomorrow Bridal / Hoy Brida, Mañana "Bridal"

La versión español está después de la primera foto.

SATURDAY WAS "FUENGIROLA A Caballo" (Fuengirola On Horseback), an equestrian event (the third annual) that took place in the center of town, primarily on two plazas within a few minutes of each other, Plaza de la Constitución and Plaza de Los Reyes Católicos.

Live music, dance performances, singing, and horses. I took it all in. More than 5 km (3 miles) roundtrip after a more than 6 km (3.7 miles) walk earlier in the day — without a sit-down. My hooves are tired.

Oh, the title:
There was a wedding (bridal) in the church on Plaza de la Constitución immediately following the equestrian (bridle) events.

  1. Whoa, sideways walking horse!

I never cease to be amazed that all of this kind of beautiful pageantry still goes on in Spain. I'm glad it hasn't been discontinued, just because years have gone by, and times have changed, and it's modern days now, etc. etc. It's great!

    1. Judy,
I agree. So many parts of the world are indistinguishable one from another, it’s nice when what makes us special is still evident.

  2. Now this is the "Spain" that comes to mind when Yanks are asked what about Spain. I thought everyone dressed like this all the time.

  3. How lovely. I didn't realize how much I missed horses till I was on the horseback tour on my latest trip. I would have enjoyed this event. The fifth picture of the horses with their ornate bridle on is so pretty. Of course the fourth looks more like me on said trip, lol

    1. And might I add how handsome is the man in the video?...tight pants and all, and the horse is magnificent.

    2. Maddie,
Some very very appealing vaqueros! And, yes, those pants.

  4. Is the pretty lady in the polka dot dress the bride? I agree with Spo...these pictures are what we Americans envision when we think about Spain. And those horses are so beautiful! I love the fancy harnesses and decoration on the ones pulling the carriage.

    Great photos, Mitchell. Thank you!

    1. Jennifer,
No bride in these shots. All horse people doing their thing. Bride appears in today’s post and is easily identified. No polka dots!

    1. Wilma,
A stunning event. Next year I’ll have to go in the morning when they process ... and before it’s too hot to stand around.

  6. I went horseback riding in Hawaii about thirteen years ago. My lack of ass is still numb! I will never do it again, but I do love watching the critters. These specimens are splendid and I appreciate anyone who can handle them.

    1. Deedles,
I have never been on a horse. My sister loved to ride. My brother, too. My lack of ass would hurt too! But then cowboys aren’t known for their bubble butts, are they?

    2. I truly believe that riding causes assrosion! Once the butts get over the swelling, the constant rubbing and bouncing just wears the little suckers down.

  7. Carlos used to ride dressage and he absolutely loved the videos! Such graceful, regal animals ...and the men, too!

    1. Bob,
I’m so glad Carlos like the videos. They were a lot to watch but I was really pleased with what I got. Yeah... the men.
