High Hopes / Grandes Esperanzas

The only thing I missed in this series of photos from Los Boliches Beach this morning was the final high-five between father and son. What a great team! Oops, there goes another problem, kerplop.

Lo único que eché de menos en esta serie de fotos de la playa de Los Boliches esta mañana era el último "chócala" entre padre e hijo. ¡Qué gran equipo! ¡Oops, ahí va otro problema haciendo "plop."

Remember that song?
¿Recuerdas la canción?

It was so fun to watch. The father kept fetching the kite and sending it aloft again. He stood behind the boy and encouraged and the only thing he did was turn his hands in steering directions as if he could will the boy to do the same. My father would have taken it from me at the first crash and done it solo!

I'm not a big fan of Sinatra, but I love the song and wanted to find it with Spanish subtitles!

He really worked to get the kite to stay aloft. And the high-five dance they did made me laugh.

I'm really enjoying writing in both English and Spanish, and I'm learning a lot as I do it. But, my Spanish really needs improvement. Soon many people will speak broken Spanish just like mine!

So was I. If the kite were just a bit bigger, he would have been.

I've always loved the song but I have no idea when I first heard it. Captain Kangaroo Show doesn't ring a bell; I'll have to find a video of it and see if that sparks a memory.

I don't think Daddy comes with instructions. You'll just have to figure it out.

  12. All that Spanish in grade school should make it possible for me to read your Spanish, but unfortunately I can't.

I'm sure it's only because my Spanish is so fractured!
