DeleteViveros!
very tropical/desert-like. los gatos make a nice contrast.
ReplyDeleteanne marie:
DeleteWe've been focusing more and more on cacti and succulents because they're less susceptible to the plague of bugs that loft in on the sea breezes. The cats make everything more beautiful... well... usually.
If I was at your place, I'd be living on that terrace. So beautiful. Nice to actually see it as a whole. No wonder the cats like it out there
ReplyDeletemistress maddie:
DeleteWe don't spend enough time just hanging around out there. Sleeping out there would be bliss. And the sound of the surf at night!
I'm so glad for you, that you have such a splendid spot, with such a splendid view :)
ReplyDeleteJudy:
DeleteThanks. Sometimes, we take it for granted, but really all I have to do is stop for a moment and then I can't believe this is home.
That's an impressive cat tree, those lucky guys!
ReplyDeleteDebra:
DeleteLucky guys, for sure. They have an identical one inside, too. It's all about the cats.
Everything looks so lovely! Growing up my parents had the same tall cactus. It stayed in the living room from October until late April when it was hauled out onto the front steps. They must have had it for 40 years.
ReplyDeleteHave a good day.
Robin:
DeleteI had a similar cactus when we lived in Connecticut, just never so red... nor big. Being outside year-round, it grows like a weed. We'll soon have to top it off!
I love the first one, with the glance back in the mirror. And I didn't realize it was such a large terrace; no wonder Dudo and Moose like it so much!
ReplyDeleteBob:
DeleteI wish I had hung the painting in time for that first shot. The terrace is 330 sq. ft. It really makes the apartment. Dudo and Moose run the length and go in and out windows and doors as they make their circles. They especially like the windows that are closed. Dudo taps on the glass and meows. Moose just yowls. Sometimes, once we open the demanded window, they just look at us and walk away.
So lovely. What is growing on the trellis? Lucky cats.
ReplyDeleteWilma:
DeleteThat's flame vine on the trellis. It gets spectacular orange tubular blooms... although ours hasn't yet done so. I'm hoping it just needs to mature and get more established. Jerry thinks there's something wrong with it.
What a beautiful extension of your living space, especially with the windows. Great place for the cat perch too.
ReplyDeleteCheapchick:
DeleteThe glass curtain has completely transformed the terrace and has turned it into more living space. We've got another identical cat tree in the house. They come first.
I'm surprised your cats haven't destroyed those plants
ReplyDeleteAdam:
DeleteAmazingly, they don't chew any of them. They did so when they were young in our apartment in Sevilla but they're really good about that here.
What a wonderful place to enjoy life
ReplyDeleteTravel:
DeleteWe sometimes take it for granted... but all we have to do is pause for a moment and take it all in again. It really is an incredible location.
Now THOSE are happy plants!!
ReplyDeleteWe have had our Crown of Thorns for 20+ years....still blooming and they are so forgiving.
Jim:
DeleteJerry had a crown of thorns in Seattle that grew so huge he donated it to the Botanic Gardens. I had never had any. These are growing like weeds after only a couple of years. Yours must be magnificent after 20 years.
What a joy it must be to live in such a wonderful place.
ReplyDeleteStephen:
DeleteAnd, like anywhere else, we sometimes forget to appreciate it.
Such an inviting terrace! We thought about glassing-in our deck once long ago, but we never went past the thinking stage. Even though winter makes the deck unusable. Still, we don't suffer from your cyclonic winds. The breeze from Cadiz can so easily displease.
ReplyDeleteWalt the Fourth:
DeleteThe glass curtain really has changed everything for us. The best investment.
Your balcony veranda is beautiful, the plants and the sun light really gives it that mediterranean look. You really have arranged it all very well as a nice place to spend your days.
ReplyDeleteLaurent:
DeleteThanks. It's always a work in progress. But the view makes up for everything.
I join the conga line of ooh and aah. it does look all lovely.
ReplyDeleteSpo:
DeleteIt helps for me to step back. I've been oohing and aahing, too. Nature sure is beautiful.
